[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) The classification methods based on minimum spanning forest (MSF) have yielded impressive results for hyperspectral image. However, previous methods exist several drawbacks, i.e., marker selection methods are easily affected by boundary noise pixels, dissimilarity measure methods between pixels are inaccurate, and also image segmentation process is not robust, since they have not effectively utilized spatial information. To this end, in this paper, novel gradient-based marker selection technique, dissimilarity measures, and adaptive connection weighting method are proposed by making full use of spatial information in hyperspectral image. Concretely, for a given hyperspectral image, a pixel-wise classification is firstly performed, and meanwhile the gradient map is generated by a morphology-based algorithm. Secondly, the most reliable pixels are selected as the markers from the classification map, and then the boundary noise pixels are excluded from the marker map by using the gradient map. Thirdly, several new dissimilarity measures are proposed by incorporating gradient information or probability information of pixels. Furthermore, in the growth procedure of MSF, the connection weighting between pixels is adjusted adaptively to improve the robustness of the MSF algorithm. Finally, when building the final classification map by using the majority voting rule, the labels of the training samples are used to dominate the label prediction. Experimental results are performed on two hyperspectral image sets Indian Pines and University of Pavia with different resolutions and contexts. The proposed approach yields higher classification accuracies compared to previously proposed classification methods, and provides accurate segmentation maps. Additionally, close objects are over-sampled relative to objects that are farther away. These two effects compound to potentially bias the three-dimensional statistics of measured scenes. Previous methods of sampling have resulted in a loss of structural coherence. In this article, a method of sampling is proposed to optimally sample points while preserving the structure of a scene. Points are sampled along a spherical coordinate system, with probabilities modulated by elevation angle and squared distance from the origin. The proposed approach is validated through visual comparison and stem-volume assessment in a challenging mangrove forest in Micronesia. Compared to several well-known sampling techniques, the proposed approach reduces sampling bias and shows strong performance in stem-reconstruction measurement. The proposed sampling method matched or exceeded the stem-volume measurement accuracy across a variety of tested decimation levels. On average it achieved 3.0% higher accuracy at estimating stem volume than the closest competitor. This approach shows promise for improving the evaluation of terrestrial laser-scanning data in complex scenes. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) This study aimed to assess the ability of using visible and near-infrared reflectance (Vis–NIR) spectroscopy to quantify soil erodibility factor (K) rapidly in an ecologically restored watershed. To achieve this goal, we explored the performance and transferability of the developed spectral models in multiple land-use types: woodland, shrubland, terrace, and slope farmland (the first two types are natural land and the latter two are cultivated land). Subsequently, we developed an improved approach by combining spectral data with related topographic variables (i.e., elevation, watershed location, slope height, and normalized height) to estimate K. The results indicate that the calibrated spectral model using total samples could estimate K factor effectively (R2CV = 0.71, RMSECV = 0.0030 Mg h Mj−1 mm−1, and RPDCV = 1.84). When predicting K in the new samples, models performed well in natural land soils (R2P = 0.74, RPDP = 1.93) but failed in cultivated land soils (R2P = 0.24, RPDP = 0.99). Furthermore, the developed models showed low transferability between the natural and cultivated land datasets. The results also indicate that the combination of spectral data with topographic variables could slightly increase the accuracies of K estimation in total and natural land datasets but did not work for cultivated land samples. This study demonstrated that the Vis–NIR spectroscopy could be used as an effective method in predicting K. However, the predictability and transferability of the calibrated models were land-use type dependent. Our study also revealed that the coupling of spectrum and environmental variable is an effective improvement of K estimation in natural landscape region Numéro de notice : A2020-631 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article DOI : 10.3390/rs12183103 Date de publication en ligne : 22/09/2020 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.3390/rs12183103 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=96052

[Termes IGN] zone d'intérêtRésumé : (auteur) Because of the large variety of planetary sensors and spacecraft already collecting data and with many new and improved sensors being planned for future missions, planetary science needs to integrate numerous multimodal image sources, and, as a consequence, accurate and robust registration algorithms are required. In this article, we develop a new framework for crater detection based on marked point processes (MPPs) that can be used for planetary image registration. MPPs were found to be effective for various object detection tasks in Earth observation, and a new MPP model is proposed here for detecting craters in planetary data. The resulting spatial features are exploited for registration, together with fitness functions based on the MPP energy, on the mean directed Hausdorff distance, and on the mutual information. Two different methods—one based on birth–death processes and region-of-interest analysis and the other based on graph cuts and decimated wavelets—are developed within the proposed framework. Experiments with a large set of images, including 13 thermal infrared and visible images of the Mars surface, 20 semisimulated multitemporal pairs of images of the Mars surface, and a real multitemporal image pair of the Lunar surface, demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework in terms of crater detection performance as well as for subpixel registration accuracy. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) Hyperspectral unmixing, which estimates end-members and their corresponding abundance fractions simultaneously, is an important task for hyperspectral applications. In this article, we propose a new autoencoder-based hyperspectral unmixing model with three novel components. First, we propose a new sparse prior to abundance maps. The proposed prior, called orthogonal sparse prior (OSP), is based on the observations that different abundance maps are close to orthogonal because, generally, no more than two end-members are mixed within one pixel. As opposed to the conventional norm-based sparse prior that assumes the abundance maps are independent, the proposed OSP explores the orthogonality between the abundance maps. Second, we propose the hyper-Laplacian loss to model the reconstruction error. The key observation is that the reconstruction error distribution usually has a heavy-tailed shape, which is better modeled by the hyper-Laplacian distribution rather than the commonly used Gaussian distribution. Third, to ease the side effect of outliers for end-member initializations, we develop a data-driven approach to detect outliers from the raw hyperspectral images. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real-world data sets show that the proposed method significantly and consistently outperforms the compared state-of-the-art methods, with up to more than 50% improvements.
