[Termes IGN] recherche d'image basée sur le contenuRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper we present an online camera pose estimation method that combines Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) and pose refinement based on a learned representation of the scene geometry extracted from monocular images. Our pose estimation method is two-step, we first retrieve an initial 6 Degrees of Freedom (DoF) location of an unknown-pose query by retrieving the most similar candidate in a pool of geo-referenced images. In a second time, we refine the query pose with a Perspective-n-Point (PnP) algorithm where the 3D points are obtained thanks to a generated depth map from the retrieved image candidate. We make our method fast and lightweight by using a common neural network architecture to generate the image descriptor for image indexing and the depth map used to create the 3D points required in the PnP pose refinement step. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposal through extensive experimentation on both indoor and outdoor scenes, as well as generalisation capability of our method to unknown environment. Finally, we show how to deploy our system even if geometric information is missing to train our monocular-image-to-depth neural networks. However, developing a fully automated method that can produce 3D building models of high quality, fidelity and accuracy is still a challenging task. Currently, most of the proposed approaches handle polyhedral roofs (consisting of planar polygons) because they assume that all roofs in a single area follow this prior. However, the reconstruction method could have its prior adapted to the roof type. In this paper, we are dealing with a specific roof case which is piecewise horizontal roofs which are very frequent in most countries of North Africa and in particular in Tunisia. Our building reconstruction method follows four main steps: building LiDAR points extraction, piecewise horizontal roof clustering, boundary creation and 3D geometric modeling. In order to prove the suitability and the effectiveness of the introduced method, experiments are conducted with real LiDAR data and aerial RGB image. Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] taxinomieIndex. décimale : THESE Thèses et HDR Résumé : (auteur) The automatic generation of 3D building models from geospatial data is now a standard procedure. An abundant literature covers the last two decades and several softwares are now available. However, urban areas are very complex environments. Inevitably, practitioners still have to visually assess, at city-scale, the correctness of these models and detect frequent reconstruction errors. Such a process relies on experts, and is highly time-consuming with approximately two hours/km² per expert. This work proposes an approach for automatically evaluating the quality of 3D building models. Potential errors are compiled in a novel hierarchical and modular taxonomy. This allows, for the first time, to disentangle fidelity and modeling errors, whatever the level of details of the modeled buildings. The quality of models is predicted using the geometric properties of buildings and, when available, Very High Resolution images and Digital Surface Models. A baseline of handcrafted, yet generic, features is fed into a Random Forest or Support Vector Machine classifiers. Richer features, relying on graph kernels as well as Scattering Networks, were proposed to better take into consideration structure. Both multi-class and multi-label cases are studied: due to the interdependence between classes of errors, it is possible to retrieve all errors at the same time while simply predicting correct and erroneous buildings. The proposed framework was tested on three distinct urban areas in France with more than 3,000 buildings. 80%-99% F-score values are attained for the most frequent errors. For scalability purposes, the impact of the urban area composition on the error prediction was also studied, in terms of transferability, generalization, and representativeness of the classifiers. It shows the necessity of multi-modal remote sensing data and mixing training samples from various cities to ensure a stability of the detection ratios, even with very limited training set sizes. This study investigates the impact of spectral and spatial sensor configuration on urban material classification results, comparing several configurations corresponding to existing or envisaged airborne or space sensors. Images corresponding to such sensors were simulated out of an airborne hyperspectral acquisition. At the end, the relevance of an enhanced spectral configuration and especially providing bands from the SWIR domain was proven, as well as the need for a fine spatial resolution to retrieve urban objects. However, the (late) fusion of multispectral imagery at 2 m resolution with hyperspectral data at 8 m resolution was also proven to lead to good results.
