[Termes IGN] vidéo numériqueRésumé : (Auteur) Intergraph's Defense and Intelligence Industry Manager Leah Wood discusses the Motion Video Exploitation solution, which was shown at the US GeoINT conference in 2009 and the EU DGI 2010 conference in London. This new solution fuses multiple motion video data streams with other intelligence data in one high-powered analytical environment. Also, the use of visually displayed telemetry information allows Intergraph's technology to blend motion video into existing architectures and geo-fuse with a vast amount of intelligence data that resides in other systems. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Keeping existing vector databases up to date is a real challenge for GIS data providers. This study directly compares a map with a more recent image in order to detect the discrepancies between them. An automatic workflow was designed to process the image based on existing information extracted from the vector database. First, geographic object-based image analysis provided automatically labeled image segments after matching the vector database to the image. Then, discrepan-cies were detected using a statistical iterative trimming, where outliers were excluded based on a likelihood threshold. Applied on forest map updating, the proposed workflow was able to detect about 75 percent of the forest regeneration, and 100 percent of the clear cuts with less than 10 percent of commission errors. This discrepancy detection approach assumes that discrepancy corresponds to small proportion of the map area and is very promising in diverse applications thanks to its flexibility. [Termes IGN] Texas (Etats-Unis)Résumé : (Auteur) Silverleaf sunflower (Helianthus argophyllus, Torr and Gray) is an annual weed found on rangelands in south and southeast Texas. Colour-infrared aerial photography and computer image analysis techniques were evaluated for detecting and mapping silverleaf sunflower infestations on a south Texas rangeland area. Supervised and unsupervised image analysis classification techniques were used to classify photographs from two study sites. Supervised classification of the two photographs showed that silverleaf sunflower had mean producer's and user's accuracies of 95.2% and 91.3%, respectively. Unsupervised classification of the two photographs had mean producer's and user's accuracies for silverleaf sunflower of 65.7% and 80.1%, respectively. These results indicate that the supervised technique is superior to the unsupervised technique for mapping silverleaf sunflower infestations using colour-infrared aerial photos. Note de contenu : INTRODUCTION

[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) A novel approach to color image segmentation (CIS) in scanned archival topographic maps of the 19th century is presented. Archival maps provide unique information for GIS-based change detection and are the only spatially contiguous data sources prior to the establishment of remote sensing. Processing such documents is challenging due to their very low graphical quality caused by ageing, manual production and scanning. Typical artifacts are high degrees of mixed and false coloring, as well as blurring in the images. Existing approaches for segmentation in cartographic documents are normally presented using well-conditioned maps. The CIS approach presented here uses information from the local image plane, the frequency domain and color space. As a first step, iterative clustering is based on local homogeneity, frequency of homogeneity-tested pixels and similarity. By defining a peak-finding rule, “hidden” color layer prototypes can be identified without prior knowledge. Based on these prototypes a constrained seeded region growing (SRG) process is carried out to find connected regions of color layers using color similarity and spatial connectivity. The method was tested on map pages with different graphical properties with robust results as derived from an accuracy assessment.
