[Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (auteur) Road intersection data have been used across a range of geospatial analyses. However, many datasets dating from before the advent of GIS are only available as historical printed maps. To be analyzed by GIS software, they need to be scanned and transformed into a usable (vector-based) format. Because the number of scanned historical maps is voluminous, automated methods of digitization and transformation are needed. Frequently, these processes are based on computer vision algorithms. However, the key challenges to this are (1) the low conversion accuracy for low quality and visually complex maps, and (2) the selection of optimal parameters. In this paper, we used a region-based deep convolutional neural network-based framework (RCNN) for object detection, in order to automatically identify road intersections in historical maps of several cities in the United States of America. We found that the RCNN approach is more accurate than traditional computer vision algorithms for double-line cartographic representation of the roads, though its accuracy does not surpass all traditional methods used for single-line symbols. The results suggest that the number of errors in the outputs is sensitive to complexity and blurriness of the maps, and to the number of distinct red-green-blue (RGB) combinations within them. [Termes IGN] réductionRésumé : (auteur) In this article, we propose a convolutional neural network with mapping layers (MCNN) for hyperspectral image (HSI) classification. The proposed mapping layers map the input patch into a low-dimensional subspace by multilinear algebra. We use our mapping layers to reduce the spectral and spatial redundancies and maintain most energy of the input. The feature extracted by our mapping layers can also reduce the number of following convolutional layers for feature extraction. Our MCNN architecture avoids the declining accuracy with increasing layers phenomenon of deep learning models for HSI classification and also saves the training time for its effective mapping layers. Furthermore, we impose the 3-D convolutional kernel on the convolutional layer to extract the spectral–spatial features for HSI. We tested our MCNN on three data sets of Indian Pines, University of Pavia, and Salinas, and we achieved the classification accuracy of 98.3%, 99.5%, and 99.3%, respectively. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed MCNN can significantly improve classification accuracy and save much time consumption. [Termes IGN] télédétectionRésumé : (auteur) Hyperspectral image clustering is usually used for unsupervised learning in different applications. However, the traditional clustering methods have not been considered the complex relationships among neighbouring pixels. The Albedo and Shading elements can define pixel values in the HyperSpectral Images (HSIs). In HSIs, features are different from each other because of their natural physical characteristics and the physical nature of different image features can be described by the Albedo element. Therefore, in this paper, we generate the natural Albedo feature of the HSIs by applying Albedo recovery step to exploit main information from HSIs. Then, we utilized the Fuzzy C-means clustering method to cluster the natural Albedo dataset. In this paper, we propose a novel accurate Albedo Recovery based Fuzzy C-Means (ARFCM) method to cluster HSIs. In the dataset, each feature vector is processed by the Albedo recovery step to create a new feature vector. This new feature vector can describe the dataset better than the original one. Comparing clustering methods as one of the powerful clustering algorithms are widely used in the remote sensing fields of studying. The experiments conducted on several benchmark datasets demonstrated that the proposed clustering method achieves higher performance than other methods and present the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed method. The results of experiments over different HSI datasets indicated that the proposed method could produce reliable and suitable results compared to the other methods. This shows the robustness of the proposed ARFCM algorithm over the various HSI datasets. Other methods may provide a good response in a given dataset and do not perform well in the other data. Consequently, the ARFCM method, regardless of the study area characteristics and the sensor features, always renders remarkable clustering accuracy. [Termes IGN] zone sinistréeRésumé : (auteur) Wildland fires result in a unique signal detectable by multispectral remote sensing and synthetic aperture radar (SAR). However, in many regions, such as Southeast Asia, persistent cloud cover and aerosols temporarily obstruct multispectral satellite observations of burned area, including the MODIS MCD64A1 Burned Area Product (BAP). Multiple days between cloud free pre- and post-burn MODIS observations result in burn date uncertainty. We incorporate cloud-penetrating, C-band SAR-with the MODIS MCD64A1 BAP in Southeast Asia, to exploit the strengths of each dataset to better estimate the burn date and reduce the potential burn date uncertainty range. We incorporate built-in quality control using MCD64A1 to reduce erroneous pixel updating. We test the method over part of Laos and Thailand during April 2016 and found average uncertainty reduction of 4.5 d, improving 15% of MCD64A1 pixels. A new BAP could improve monitoring temporal trends of wildland fires, air quality studies and monitoring post-fire vegetation dynamics. [Termes IGN] Wuhan (Chine)Résumé : (auteur) Point cloud boundary is an important part of the surface model. The traditional feature extraction method has slow speed and low efficiency and only achieves the boundary feature points. Hence, the point cloud feature regularization is proposed to obtain the boundary lines based on the fast extraction of feature points in this article. First, an improved $k$ - $d$ tree method is used to search the $k$ neighbors of sampling point. Then, the sampling point and its $k$ neighbors are used as the reference points set to fit a microcut plane and project to the plane. The local coordinate system is established on the microcut plane to convert 3-D into 2-D. The boundary feature points are identified by judging criterion of field force and then are sorted and connected according to the vector deflected angle and distance. Finally, the boundary lines are smoothed by the improved cubic B-spline fitting method. Experiments show that the proposed method can extract the boundary feature points quickly and efficiently, and the mean error of boundary lines is 0.0674 mm and the standard deviation is 0.0346 mm, which has high precision. This proposed method was also successfully applied to feature extraction and boundary fitting of Xinyi teaching building of the Wuhan University of Technology.
