We propose an approach to compute environment maps, representing the sky radiance, from a set of ground-based images acquired by a panoramic acquisition system, for instance a mobile-mapping system. These images can be affected by important radiometric artifacts, such as bloom or overexposure. A Perez radiance model is estimated with the blue sky pixels of the images, and used to compute additive corrections in order to reduce these radiometric artifacts. The sky pixels are then aggregated in an environment map, which still suffers from discontinuities on stitching edges. The influence of the quality of estimated sky radiance on the simulated light signal is measured quantitatively on a simple synthetic urban scene; in our case, the maximal error for the total sensor radiance is about 10%. [Termes IGN] Ozone Monitoring InstrumentRésumé : (Auteur) A new approach for the retrieval of the vertical column concentrations of trace gases, from hyperspectral satellite reflectances, is presented. The investigation moves from the general rationale of independent component analysis, but the constraint of perfect independence among sources is replaced by a minimum dependence concept that proves more reasonable for the application at hand. The unmixing of the gas spectra and their concentrations is achieved from linear mixtures obtained from the logarithm of the spectral reflectance. After a proper preprocessing stage aimed at reducing major residual dependences caused by atmospheric scattering, trace-gas retrieval is carried out through a minimization of a statistical cost function, subject to the physical constraint that the resulting spectra must be nonnegative. The experimental analysis relies on the retrieval of sulfur dioxide during volcanic emissions using data from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Ozone Monitoring Instrument. To validate the procedure, reference reflectance spectra having a known profile of sulfur dioxide are generated with the MODerate resolution atmospheric TRANsmission software, and the retrieved concentration is compared with the theoretical one. Performance in the presence of shot and detector noise has also been analyzed starting from pure simulated spectral reflectances. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Remote sensing is a study that provides information on targets of interest without direct interaction with them. Generally, the term is used for measurement techniques that detect electro-magnetic radiation emitted or reflected from the targets.
Commonly used wavelength ranges include visible, infra-red, microwaves, and thermal bands. This information can be exploited to determine the structural and spectral properties of targets. Remote sensing techniques are typically utilized in mapping solutions, environment monitoring, target recognition, change detection, and in creation of physical models.
In Finland, remote sensing research is of specific importance in forest sciences and industry as they need precise information on tree quantity and quality over large forest ranges. Tree species information on individual tree level is an important parameter to achieve this goal.
The aim of this thesis is to study how individual tree species information can be extracted with multiple source remote sensing data. The aim is achieved by combining spatial and spectral remote sensing data. Structural properties of individual trees are determined from three dimensional point clouds collected with laser scanners. Spectral properties of trees are collected with cameras or spectrometers.
The thesis consists of four separate studies. The first study examined how shading information of trees canopies could be exploited to improve tree species classification in data collected with airborne sensors. The second study examined the classification performance of a low-cost, multi-sensor, mobile mapping system. The third study investigated the classification performance and accuracy of a novel, active hyperspectral laser scanner. Finally, the fourth study evaluated the suitability of artificial surfaces as on-site intensity calibration targets.
The results of the three classification studies showed that the use of combined point cloud and spectral information yielded the best classification results in all study cases when compared against classification results obtained with only structural or spectral information. Moreover, the studies showed that the improved results could be achieved with a low total number of mixed structural and spectral classification parameters. The fourth study showed that the artificial surfaces work as calibration surfaces only in limited cases.
The main outcome of the thesis was that the active remote sensing systems measuring multiple wavelengths simultaneously should be promoted. They have a significant potential to improve tree species classification performance even with a few application-specific wavelengths.Numéro de notice : 15863 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : FORET/IMAGERIE Nature : Thèse étrangère Note de thèse : Doctoral dissertation : Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing : University of Helsinki : 2012 En ligne : http://hdl.handle.net/10138/33956 Format de la ressource électronique : URL Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=93650 A web-based 3D mapping application using WebGL allowing interaction with images, point clouds and models / Alexandre Devaux (2012)

[Termes IGN] webGLRésumé : (auteur) Nowadays we see a lot of Rich Internet Applications (RIA), but real interactive 3D applications have just started years ago, and it is only in 2011 that a GPU library was integrated directly in the major internet browsers. This opened a new way of creating 3D applications on the web and a new public, as much more users can access them without complicated plugin installations and this is just what 3D web mapping was waiting for.
We present our street view application allowing to move through cities from a pedestrian point of view and interact with it in order to create and update precise urban maps enabling accessibility diagnostics, services and applications around mobility. We cared about precision in the data acquisition (images and laser) in order to be able to make accurate 3D measurements for professional usages. The user can show large laser clouds in his web-browser, access information on any points, draw 3D bounding boxes and export selections to databases. He can also make measurements from images, integrate collada models, display OpenData layers, etc. Finally we use projective texture mapping in real time to texture any mesh with our images.Numéro de notice : C2012-012 Affiliation des auteurs : MATIS (1993-2011) Thématique : GEOMATIQUE/IMAGERIE/INFORMATIQUE Nature : Communication nature-HAL : ComAvecCL&ActesPubliésIntl DOI : 10.1145/2424321.2424422 Date de publication en ligne : 06/11/2012 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1145/2424321.2424422 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=93484 Review of geometric and radiometric analyses of paintings / Fabio Remondino in Photogrammetric record, vol 26 n° 136 (December 2011 - February 2012)
