[Termes IGN] prévention des risquesRésumé : (Auteur) Coastal chalk cliff falls in Upper Normandy (France) are frequent and have specific spatial and temporal distributions. From 2002 to 2009, the ESTRAN organization (Scientific and Technical Space of Aquatic Resources and Navigation) conducted a weekly inventory of 331 cliff falls (location, volume, and date) between Veules-les-Roses and Le Treport (37.5 km). An amount of 331 falls was counted (date, location, measures of fall deposit). This database is remarkable because of the duration and high frequency of field surveys. The geographical and spatial statistics (locational analysis) methods used in this study aim to determine and understand the spatial and temporal distributions of coastal chalk cliff falls. Exhaustive cartography of such falls thus highlights the cap d’Ailly sector as being the most sensitive to an erosive dynamic along the coast from Veules-les-Roses to Le Treport. Furthermore, this cartography stresses many types of fall kinematics. This can be partly explained by lithological characteristics may predispose mass and particle movements. Using the combination of centrographic statistics, Ripley’s K-function, Besag’s L-function and kernel density, we have identified: 1) high cliff fall polarization at cap d’Ailly; 2) organization scales of fall locations per water year; 3) areas of massive and numerous falls (fall hazard areas). This information is essential for a better understanding of the working of the studied area and also for the set up of risk prevention tools. [Termes IGN] simulationRésumé : (auteur) Fuel type mapping of the wildland-urban interface (WUI) in support of fire spread simulation modelling should include both natural and urban features. The objective of this study was to evaluate the utility of (1) Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) structural data, (2) ortho-image data and (3) a combination of both as input to an object-based classification approach for mapping fuels within two WUI areas in San Diego, California. A separability analysis was utilized to determine the surface topographical and spectral layers most influential for discriminating WUI fuels. An accuracy assessment revealed that the combination of LiDAR and ortho-image data inputs substantially increased classification accuracy by 20–30% and achieved overall accuracies > 80%. Results from the study provide knowledge on how reliable fuel types within the WUI can be mapped using high-resolution LiDAR and ortho-image data while presenting new insights into fuel type mapping. [Termes IGN] surveillance géologiqueRésumé : (Auteur)This paper is focused on deformation monitoring using the Ground-Based SAR (GBSAR) technique and a particular data acquisition configuration, which is called discontinuous GBSAR (D-GBSAR). In the most commonly used GBSAR configuration, the radar is left installed in situ, acquiring data periodically, e.g. every few minutes. Deformations are estimated by processing sets of GBSAR images acquired during several weeks or months, without moving the system. By contrast, in the D-GBSAR the radar is installed and dismounted at each measurement campaign, revisiting a given site periodically. This configuration is useful to monitor slow deformation phenomena. This paper outlines the D-GBSAR data analysis procedure implemented by the authors. This is followed by a discussion of some specific aspects of D-GBSAR monitoring. Two successful examples of D-GBSAR monitoring are discussed: one concerns an urban area, while the second one involves a rural area where the monitoring requires the use of artificial corner reflectors. [Termes IGN] surveillance géologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper provides a review of ground-based SAR (GBSAR) interferometry for deformation measurement. In the first part of the paper the fundamentals of this technique are provided. Then the main data processing and analysis stages needed to estimate deformations starting from the GBSAR observations are described. This section introduces the two types of GBSAR acquisition modes, i.e., continuous and discontinuous GBSAR, and reviews the different GBSAR processing and analysis methods published in the literature. This is followed by a discussion of the specific technical aspects of GBSAR deformation measurement. A section then summarizes the pros and cons of GBSAR for deformation monitoring. The last part of the paper includes two reviews: one concerning the GBSAR systems described in the literature, including non-strictly SAR systems and a second one addresses the main GBSAR applications. [Termes IGN] teneur en eau de la végétationRésumé : (Auteur) The estimation of live fuel moisture content (LFMC) is necessary for fire danger assessment. Several studies have successfully used satellite imagery to estimate LFMC, both using empirical and simulation approaches (Yebra et al., 2013). The latter are based on Radiative Transfer Models (BTM). They are generally more robust and easier to generalize, but they rely heavily on the proper parameterization. Since some of the input parameters are associated with different physiological processes, a better understanding of how those parameters co-vary is necessary for constraining the simulation scenarios, thus avoiding combinations of parameters that are unlikely to occur (for instance, in temperate ecosystems, it is unlikely to find simultaneously high values of leaf chlorophyll and low values of leaf moisture). To improve parameterization of RTM models for LFMC estimation, we conducted a laboratory experiment to measure trends in leaf and canopy variables of two tree species broadly distributed in Eurosiberian climates: Beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) and pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur L.). Measurements of LFMC, equivalent water thickness (EWT), dry matter content (DMC), chlorophyll (ClHh), leaf area index (LAl), leaf angle distribution (LIDF), crown height to width ratio (CHW) and plant reflectance were performed. Significant positive correlations were found between LFMC and EWT (Rs >0.5), and negative ones were found between both parameters and CMb (Rs Numéro de notice : A2014-242 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : FORET/IMAGERIE Nature : Article DOI : 10.14358/PERS.80.5.451 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.14358/PERS.80.5.451 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=33145
