[Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (auteur) Recent advances in localization techniques have fundamentally enhanced social networking services, allowing users to share their locations and location-related contents, such as geo-tagged photos and notes. We refer to these social networks as location-based social networks (LBSNs). Location data bridges the gap between the physical and digital worlds and enables a deeper understanding of users’ preferences and behavior. This addition of vast geo-spatial datasets has stimulated research into novel recommender systems that seek to facilitate users’ travels and social interactions. In this paper, we offer a systematic review of this research, summarizing the contributions of individual efforts and exploring their relations. We discuss the new properties and challenges that location brings to recommender systems for LBSNs. We present a comprehensive survey analyzing 1) the data source used, 2) the methodology employed to generate a recommendation, and 3) the objective of the recommendation. We propose three taxonomies that partition the recommender systems according to the properties listed above. First, we categorize the recommender systems by the objective of the recommendation, which can include locations, users, activities, or social media. Second, we categorize the recommender systems by the methodologies employed, including content-based, link analysis-based, and collaborative filtering-based methodologies. Third, we categorize the systems by the data sources used, including user profiles, user online histories, and user location histories. For each category, we summarize the goals and contributions of each system and highlight the representative research effort. Further, we provide comparative analysis of the recommender systems within each category. Finally, we discuss the available data-sets and the popular methods used to evaluate the performance of recommender systems. Finally, we point out promising research topics for future work. This article presents a panorama of the recommender systems in location-based social networks with a balanced depth, facilitating research into this important research theme. [Vedettes matières IGN] CartologieRésumé : (auteur) Readability is a major issue with all maps. In this study, we evaluated whether we can predict map readability using analytical measures, both single measures and composites of measures. A user test was conducted regarding the perceived readability of a number of test map samples. Evaluations were then performed to determine how well single measures and composites of measures could describe the map readability. The evaluation of single measures showed that the amount of information was most important, followed by the spatial distribution of information. The measures of object complexity and graphical resolution were not useful for explaining the map readability of our test data. The evaluations of composites of measures included three methods: threshold evaluation, multiple linear regression and support vector machine. We found that the use of composites of measures was better for describing map readability than single measures, but we could not identify any major differences in the results of the three composite methods. The results of this study can be used to recommend readability measures for triggering and controlling the map generalization process of online maps. [Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (auteur) The large number of commonly available geographical data sets means that users of this data face a difficult choice in selecting the set that best meets their requirements. In theory, metadata is helpful in this, but many studies suggest that the metadata created by data producers is incomprehensible to average users. The article aims to identify the essential information that users need to acquire the geographical data set that fits their needs. This information is then compared with the information that users can obtain from metadata, product data specifications, and the data itself. As a result of a survey the most important data quality elements were identified, as well as some information pertinent to users that is missing in metadata. The users stressed that a lack of value for optional attributes considerably decreases the informative value and fitness for use of existing data sets. This was also observed while analyzing the building thematic data layer, which is a part of The Polish National Topographic Database. The research shows that data quality is diversified within a database, and it may happen that for some subsets of data, quality criteria are not met. Finally, two data quality subelements – optional attribute and void value - were proposed, which will overcome some difficulties in assessing the fitness for use of data. [Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (auteur) Commonly the assessment of the quality of image segmentations used in object-based land cover classification uses the geometric match between the derived segmentation and a reference dataset. This paper argues that a more appropriate assessment of a segmentation is to also consider the thematic content of the objects generated. This allows the assessment to be tailored to the needs of the specific user. A new method for image segmentation quality assessment is described, which combines a traditional geometric-only method with the thematic similarity index (TSI), a metric that expresses the degree of thematic quality of objects from a user’s perspective. The perspectives of two users (a wolf researcher and a general user of land cover information) were adopted in a case study to demonstrate the new method. The results show that the new method allowed the production of more accurate land cover classifications for the two users than the use of the geometric-only approach Numéro de notice : A2015-976 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article DOI : 10.14358/PERS.81.6.451 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.14358/PERS.81.6.451 Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=80059
