[Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (Auteur) Technological advances in positioning and imaging sensors, combined with the explosion in wireless mobile communication systems that occurred during the lost decade of the twentieth century, practically redefined and substantially extended the concept of mobile mapping. The advent of the first mobile mapping systems (MMS) in the early 1990s initiated the process of establishing modern, virtually ground-control-free photogrammetry and digital mapping. By the end of the last decade, mobile mapping technology had made remarkable progress, evolving from rather simple land-based systems to more sophisticated, real-time multitasking and multisensor systems, operational in land and airborne environments. New specialized systems, based on modern imaging sensors, such as CCD (charge-coupled device) cameras, lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) and hyperspectral/multispectral scanners, are being developed, aimed at automatic data acquisition for geoinformatics, thematic mapping, land classification, terrain modeling, emergency response, homeland security, etc. This paper provides an overview of the mobile mapping concept, with a special emphasis on the MMS paradigm shift from the post-mission to near-real-time systems that occurred in the past few years. A short review of the direct georeferencing concept is given, and the major techniques (sensors) used for platform georegistration, as well as the primary radiolocation techniques based on wireless networks, are presented. An overview of the major imaging sensors and the importance of multisensor system calibration are also provided. Future perspectives of mobile mapping and its extension towards telegeoinformatics are also discussed. Some examples of mobile geospatial technology used in automatic object recognition, real-time highway centerline mapping, thematic mapping, and city modeling with lidar and multispectral imagery are included. [Termes IGN] Terre (planète)Résumé : (auteur) In the framework of activities of the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) Combination Research Centres (CRC), the French Groupe de Recherche en Géodésie Spatiale (GRGS) studies the benefit of combining four geodetic techniques (SLR, VLBI, GPS and DORIS) at the measurement level in order to obtain a global and consistent solution for Earth Orientation Parameters (EOPs): polar motion xp and yp, universal time UT and celestial pole offsets in longitude and obliquity dψ and dǫ with a six-hour sampling, as well as weekly station positions. A one-year test period (the year 2002) has been chosen to prove the power of such a combination moreover worked out in a homogeneous global terrestrial reference frame. All techniques were processed in the same computational framework (GINS/DYNAMO) so with the same a priori models and a priori values for parameters. The optimal relative weights between each geodetic technique were obtained with an optimal variance component estimation method. [Termes IGN] tachéomètre électroniqueIndex. décimale : 30.70 Navigation et positionnement Résumé : (Auteur) By combining individual components with intelligent analytical algorithms, modern measuring systems such as robot tacheometer or the " Global Positioning System, (GPS) " allow many new areas of application in modern engineering surveying. Use of this equipment is initially limited to static, quasi-static or stop-and-go techniques. Today, these efficient measuring sensors are used increasingly for kinematic measuring tasks.
Different applications for the precise description of the movement track and for optimizing the horizontal and vertical availability require a combination of these measuring sensors, which operate separately. Normally both these measuring instruments cannot be combined without changing hardware or software (firmware). This thesis presents a method that allows a synchronization of independent measuring systems without a common basis through a comprehensive observation of all factors of disturbance and influence. Calibration of terrestrial and global measuring sensors for kinematic applications is also discussed in detail.
With respect to the description of dynamic movement processes, a calibration of this kind of kinematic measuring sensors requires an expansion of conventional geodetic strategies. Based on static characteristics, these sensors must be tested using kinematic testing methods relating to the type, size and behavior of target points affected by measuring uncertainty. In addition, the real time capability of the measuring system and the synchronization of individual subsystems must be verified and, if required, minimized by corresponding calibration functions.
The result is a hybrid measuring system for kinematic applications that, independent of the type of movement, allows a precise derivation of the movement path based on discrete measuring points on a millimeter scale. For example, these hybrid measuring systems can be employed for the following: 1- as a high precision positioning system for navigation and control of process flows in road and railways track construction (machine guidance), 2- for special applications involving maximum availability and accuracy requirements for land and water vehicles or aircraft, 3- as a reference system to verify the feasible accuracy of positioning and application techniques, and 4- to analyze technical reaction times of partial and overall systems in the precision farming sector.
The descriptions of selected applications in this thesis are limited to testing of section specific land use with the " Landwirtschaftlichen BUS System LBS, (DIN 9684 and ISO 11783) " with respect to position accuracy, precision, quality, and size of disturbances occurring.
