[Termes IGN] relation spatialeRésumé : (auteur) Location retrieval based on visual information is to retrieve the location of an agent (e.g. human, robot) or the area they see by comparing the observations with a certain form of representation of the environment. Existing methods generally require precise measurement and storage of the observed environment features, which may not always be robust due to the change of season, viewpoint, occlusion, etc. They are also challenging to scale up and may not be applicable for humans due to the lack of measuring/imaging devices. Considering that humans often use less precise but easily produced qualitative spatial language and high-level semantic landmarks when describing an environment, a qualitative location retrieval method is proposed in this work by describing locations/places using qualitative place signatures (QPS), defined as the perceived spatial relations between ordered pairs of co-visible landmarks from viewers' perspective. After dividing the space into place cells each with individual signatures attached, a coarse-to-fine location retrieval method is proposed to efficiently identify the possible location(s) of viewers based on their qualitative observations. The usability and effectiveness of the proposed method were evaluated using openly available landmark datasets, together with simulated observations by considering the possible perception error. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Two-view relative pose estimation and structure reconstruction is a classical problem in computer vision. The typical methods usually employ the singular value decomposition of the essential matrix to get multiple solutions of the relative pose, from which the right solution is picked out by reconstructing the three-dimension (3D) feature points and imposing the constraint of positive depth. This paper revisits the two-view geometry problem and discovers that the two-view imaging geometry is equivalently governed by a Pair of new Pose-Only (PPO) constraints: the same-side constraint and the intersection constraint. From the perspective of solving equation, the complete pose solutions of the essential matrix are explicitly derived and we rigorously prove that the orientation part of the pose can still be recovered in the case of pure rotation. The PPO constraints are simplified and formulated in the form of inequalities to directly identify the right pose solution with no need of 3D reconstruction and the 3D reconstruction can be analytically achieved from the identified right pose. Furthermore, the intersection inequality also enables a robust criterion for pure rotation identification. Experiment results validate the correctness of analyses and the robustness of the derived pose solution/pure rotation identification and analytical 3D reconstruction. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) Accurate indoor 3D models have become a key prerequisite for various applications. Through state-of-the-art image processing techniques, 3D models can be generated from high quality images captured by off-the-shelf digital cameras. To acquire redundant data and produce real scale models, a multi-camera system can be used. However, dedicated approaches for image-based 3D reconstruction using mapping platforms equipped with multiple cameras have not been fully addressed. Assuming the availability of prior information regarding the platform trajectory, this paper presents a new approach for reliable estimation of system motion parameters between different data acquisition epochs of a multi-camera system. This approach, which assumes planar motion of the utilized platform, provides a three-point closed-form solution. The derived solutions are then incorporated within a modified RANSAC framework for outlier detection/removal. It is worth noting that, different from the existing General Camera Model (GCM)-based solutions, the proposed approach is based on a modified co-planarity model, which is essentially a direct extension of the classic stereo-based relative orientation. Moreover, since the proposed approach only provides a maximum number of four possible solutions for system motion parameters over different epochs, it has better computational efficiency when compared to other existing algorithms. Experimental results from real datasets acquired with different configurations have demonstrated the reliability of the proposed approach in motion parameter estimation for indoor multi-camera mapping systems. Notre méthode utilise la topologie inhérente au capteur LiDAR pour définir une relation spatiale entre les points. Pour cela, nous examinons chaque connexion possible entre points, pondérée en fonction de sa distance au capteur, et les filtrons en privilégiant les structures collinéaires, ou perpendiculaires aux impulsions du laser. Ensuite, nous créons et filtrons des triangles pour chaque triplet de segments connectés entre eux, en fonction de leur coplanarité locale. Nous comparons nos résultats à une reconstruction non pondérée d'un complexe simplicial. Our method uses the inherent topology of the MLS sensor to define a spatial adjacency relationship between points. We then investigate each possible connexion between adjacent points, weighted according to its distance to the sensor, and filter them by searching collinear structures in the scene, or structures perpendicular to the laser beams. Next, we create and filter triangles for each triplet of self-connected edges and according to their local planarity. We compare our results to an unweighted simplicial complex reconstruction.
