[Termes IGN] SuisseRésumé : (auteur) Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) antennas buried underneath a snowpack have a high potential for in situ snow water equivalent (SWE) estimation. Automated and continuous SWE quantification independent of weather conditions could enhance snow hydrological monitoring and modeling. Accurate and reliable in situ data are needed for the calibration and validation of remote sensing data and snowpack modeling. A relative bias of less than 5% is achieved using sub-snow global positioning system (GPS) antennas (GPS refractometry) during a three full seasons time period in the Swiss Alps. A systematic overview regarding the temporal reliability of the sub-snow GPS derived results is, however, missing for this emerging technique. Moreover, GPS processing impacts the results significantly. Different GPS processing parameters are therefore selected and their influence on the SWE estimation is investigated. The impact of elevation-dependent weighting, the elevation cutoff angles, and the time intervals for SWE estimation are systematically assessed. The best results are achieved using all observations with an elevation-dependent weighting scheme. Moreover, the SWE estimation performance is equally accurate for hourly SWE estimation as for lower temporal resolutions up to daily estimates. The impact of snow on the coordinate solution is furthermore evaluated. While the east and north components are not systematically influenced by the overlying snowpack, the vertical component exhibits a significant variation and strongly depends on the SWE. The biased vertical component therefore provides an additional possibility to estimate SWE. [Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (Auteur) In recent years, aided navigation systems through combining inertial navigation system (INS) with global navigation satellite system (GNSS) have been widely applied to enhance the position, velocity, and attitude information of autonomous vehicles. In order to gain the accuracy of the aided INS/GNSS in GNSS gap intervals, a heuristic neural network structure based on the recurrent fuzzy wavelet neural network (RFWNN) is applicable for INS velocity and position error compensation purpose. During frequent access to GNSS data, the RFWNN should be trained as a highly precise prediction model equipped with the Kalman filter algorithm. Therefore, the INS velocity and position error data are obtainable along with the lost intervals of GNSS signals. For performance assessment of the proposed RFWNN-aided INS/GNSS, real flight test data of a small commercial unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) were conducted. A comparison of test results shows that the proposed NN algorithm could efficiently provide high-accuracy corrections on the INS velocity and position information during GNSS outages. [Termes IGN] teneur intégrée en vapeur d'eauRésumé : (auteur) For the documentation of time and space variations of water vapor in atmosphere during the Nawdex campaign (North Atlantic, Autumn 2016), a ground network of more than 1200 coastal continuously operation reference GNSS stations has been analyzed. This network spreads from Caribbeans to Morocco through Greenland. Retrieved IWV have been used to evaluate ERAI and ERA5 reanalysis and highlight improvements made by ERA5 (-0.2 +/- 1.6 kg/m2 vs -0.3 +/- 2.1 kg/m2 overall). They are also used to describe high impact weather events that took place during the experiment. The analysis of this ground GNSS network has been completed with the IWV retrieved from GPS data acquired by the French RV Atalante which cruises in the area during the experiment. IWV from shipborne receiver are consistent with both ERAI and ERA5 reanalysis (1.0 +/- 3.2 kg/m2 and 1.3 +/- 2.0 kg/m2 respectively) ; shipborne IWV also agree with IWV from nearby ground GNSS stations (-0.4 +/- 0.9 kg/m2). These results confirm the quality of shipborne IWV retrievals and opens up prospects for use in climatology and meteorology.
