[Termes IGN] RadarsatRésumé : (Auteur) Imagine a fully automated system used to produce accurate high resolution radar ortho-image and -mosaics all over the world with excellent reliability! Emergency management teams could then have access to highly-accurate radar data as soon as it becomes available for their time-sensitive needs. This was a difficult task, mainly due to the arduous process of collecting ground control points (GCPs). It is now possible with the successful operation of the radarsat-2 satellite and a new 3D hybrid satellite model that process this data without user-collected GCPs. [Termes IGN] précision altimétriqueRésumé : (Auteur) Vertical accuracy of the processed Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) digital elevation model (DEM) was evaluated using spot height as well as reference DEM. Terrain dependency of error was also explored in relation to elevation, slope and aspect of the terrain. The positive mean error (6.77 + 1.79 m) indicated that the SRTM DEM was slightly underestimating the elevation and this pattern gradually increases towards higher elevation. The observed root mean square error (RMSE) (27.58 + 4.22 m) for the region do not fulfill the 16 m RMSE specification of the SRTM mission. High magnitude errors are typical to steep slope (due to overestimation) and in stream valley (due to underestimation). The magnitude of residuals for NW, W and SW facing slope was smaller as compared to their complementary angle. Results also indicated a S and NE components in SRTM DEM because of underestimation and overestimation of elevation, respectively. [Termes IGN] précision altimétriqueRésumé : (Auteur) The TanDEM-X satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) mission, which is the result of the partnership between the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Astrium GmbH, has the goal to deliver a high-precision global digital elevation model (DEM). The X-band SAR interferometry-derived DEMs contain absolute and relative height errors that have to be minimized with the help of height references in order to achieve the specified accuracies. ICESat laser altimetry data are suited for this task, due to their accuracy and global distribution. In order to gain experience in the comparison between a radar-derived DEM and ICESat GLA14 elevation data, an X-band DEM was acquired over a test region with the experimental airborne radar system of DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen. Additionally, a laser DEM of the area was used to verify the height accuracy claimed by previously published ICESat studies over different terrain types and after applying different selection threshold criteria. The analyses described in this paper are the basis for the definition of a suitable global ICESat selection strategy and include the computation of the density of selected ICESat samples over the Earth. These aspects are crucial for a successful TanDEM-X DEM generation. [Termes IGN] intégration de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) Historical data can be seen as having two spheres of interest to users. The first being that historical data, mainly old maps, are often visually attractive and represent cultural and artistic information. The second is that historical data contains invaluable information which is often unmapped or not represented in current maps or data. Historical data is thus particularly of interest to various individuals and professional groups, from historians to ecologists and from archaeologists to glaciologists. In order to exploit, analyse and process historical data, these actors have identified a need to integrate it into a recent georeferenced framework. A georeferencing process is thus essential. In this context and based on the fact that historical geographic data will be increasingly available in a vector format, this paper deals with methods to integrate vectorised historical geographic data into current georeferenced frameworks and proposes a user-centred approach in order to take into account both users knowledge and users constraints in this context. This paper introduces the idea than several georeferencing processing methods are possible according to users needs. An example is given through the integration of a Cassini map sheet into the current topological component of the French geographical reference framework.
