Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] Référence-3DRésumé : (auteur) Onboard SPOT 5, the HRS instrument systematically collects 600 km × 120 km stereopairs around the Globe since 2002. From this time, SPOT5 stereoscopic imagery becomes one of main satellite data sources for accurate DTED level 2 DEM extraction. Spot Image and French National Cartographic Institute (IGN) decided in 2002 to build a worldwide accurate database called Reference3DTM using HRS data. Huge eorts have been made to standardize the process in order to oer aordable prices. Until 2008, the targeted accuracies were 16 mCE90 for horizontal accuracy, and 10 mLE90 for vertical accuracy. These accuracy requirements were achieved without any control points nor map support. The introduction of the paper briey reminds the most signicant assessments performed by major players within the geospatial community, and more specically the one by ImageONE Co., Ltd. (Tokyo) on two Reference3D geocells over the Northern coast of Japan, Hokkaido province. This work was published in 2008 during the last Beijing ISPRS congress. In 2009, it was decided to introduce reliable GCPs within the Reference3D production process, to increase the horizontal accuracy down to 6-10 mCE90. In addition, two new layers were added to the product, which provide the user with i) the horizontal accuracy for every single pixel of the Reference3D orthoimage and ii) the vertical accuracy for every single elevation value within the Reference3D DEM. The paper shows how the extensive use of ICESat data brings valuable information regarding the eective vertical accuracy, and how ICESat data allows to quantify the elevation accuracy of a dataset. In conclusion, we present the road map for the update of the whole Reference3D database, which currently spreads over more than 45 millions of sq. km. (being more than 4,200 1° by 1° geocells), already funded and started up to 2014, towards 80 Mkm2 of Reference3D products. The potentialities of the image-based approach are nowadays very well-known but there is a lack of reliable, precise and flexible solutions, possibly open-source, which could be used for metric and accurate documentation or digital conservation and not only for simple visualization or web-based applications. The article presents a set of photogrammetric tools developed in order to derive accurate 3D point clouds and orthoimages for the digitization of archaeological and architectural objects. The aim is also to distribute free solutions (software, methodologies, guidelines, best practices, etc.) based on 3D surveying and modeling experiences, useful in different application contexts (architecture, excavations, museum collections, heritage documentation, etc.) and according to several representations needs (2D technical documentation, 3D reconstruction, web visualization, etc.). [Termes IGN] voie ferréeRésumé : (Auteur) The quality of remotely sensed data in regards of accuracy and resolution has considerably improved in recent years. Very small objects are detectable by means of imaging and laser scanning, yet there are only few studies to use such data for large scale mapping of railroad infrastructure. In this paper, an approach is presented that integrates extremely high resolution ortho-imagery and dense airborne laser scanning point clouds. These data sets are used to reconstruct railroad track centre lines. A feature level data fusion is carried out in order to combine the advantages of both data sets and to achieve a maximum of accuracy and completeness. The workflow consists of three successive processing steps. First, object-based image analysis is used to derive a railroad track mask from ortho-imagery. This spatial location information is then combined with the height information to classify the laser points. Lastly, the location of railroad track centre lines from these classified points were approximated using a feature extraction method based on an adapted random sample consensus algorithm. This workflow is tested on two railroad sections and was found to deliver very accurate results in a quickly and highly automated manner. [Termes IGN] trajectoire (véhicule non spatial)Résumé : (Auteur) Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry has been used in a growing number of diverse applications across different scientific disciplines. Early applications of UAVs included cultural heritage and archaeology, mainly for the documentation and modelling of monuments, buildings and landscapes. In this paper, the focus is on the application of UAVs for documenting archaeological excavations. As excavating is a dynamic process and the objects to be acquired can change significantly within a few hours, UAVs can provide a suitable alternative to traditional measurement methods such as measuring tapes and tachymeters. Nevertheless, the image processing steps have to be automated, as a large number of resulting materials, usually sketches, maps, ortho-images and 3D models, need to be available quickly. In order to accelerate the processing workflow, an interface between the UAV ground control software and various photogrammetric software packages was developed at ETH Zurich, which allows for an efficient management and transfer of orientation, trajectory and sensor data for rapid project set up.
