[Termes IGN] vapeur d'eauRésumé : (Auteur) In radio signal-based observing systems, such as Global Positioning System (GPS) and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), the water vapor in the atmosphere will cause delays during the signal transmission. Such delays vary significantly with terrain elevation. In the case when atmospheric delays are to be eliminated from the measured raw signals, spatial interpolators may be needed. By taking advantage of available terrain elevation information during spatial interpolation process, the accuracy of the atmospheric delay mapping can be considerably improved. This paper first reviews three elevation-dependent water vapor interpolation models, i.e., the Best Linear Unbiased Estimator in combination with the water vapor Height Scaling Model (BLUE + HSM), the Best Linear Unbiased Estimator coupled with the Elevation-dependent Covariance Model (BLUE + ECM), and the Simple Kriging with varying local means based on the Baby semi-empirical model (SKlm + Baby for short). A revision to the SKlm + Baby model is then presented, where the Onn water vapor delay model is adopted to substitute the inaccurate Baby semi-empirical model (SKlm + Onn for short). Experiments with the zenith wet delays obtained through the GPS observations from the Southern California Integrated GPS Network (SCIGN) demonstrate that the SKlm + Onn model outperforms the other three. The RMS of SKlm + Onn is only 0.55 cm, while those of BLUE + HSM, BLUE + ECM and SKlm + Baby amount to 1.11, 1.49 and 0.77 cm, respectively. The proposed SKlm + Onn model therefore represents an improvement of 29–63% over the other known models. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) Nearly three-quarters of the territory of Taiwan and 95% of its population are exposed to frequent hazard. In the aftermath of typhoon Morakot that scourged Southern Taiwan on 8th and 9th august 2009, causing the worst flooding in a century, the authorities realized that the country was dreadfully lacking in detailed, accurate and current elevation data, as well as aerial imagery covering the entire territory (36 000 km2). In response, a national mapping program spanning 2010 to 2015 was launched with the aim of simultaneously capturing the entire country airborne Lidar and digital imagery. The authors discuss specifications, status and challenges posed by this large-scale, long-term project. [Termes IGN] UltraCamRésumé : (Auteur) Microsoft’s Global Ortho (GO) project aims to capture the entire continental United States and Western Europe at a spatial resolution of 30 centimetres, using UltraCamG digital aerial cameras. The GO project produced the first imagery in August 2010 and has to date captured 46% of the area and published 2.21km2. The entire project is scheduled for completion by June 2012, to be followed by a three-year refresh cycle. The author discusses the GO project, as well as features of the UltraCamG and the new UltraCam Eagle digital aerial cameras. The latter was launched as a commercial offering in May 2011. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) Novel photogrammetric sensors open up new possibilities for measuring the radiometric and geometric properties of the Earth’s surface. To ensure optimal use of these complex, rapidly developing, diverse systems, it is becoming crucial to have a means of calibrating and validating complete imaging systems, and even production lines, in operational conditions. This paper presents a calibration and validation methodology based on a permanent test site (Sjökulla) and demonstrates its use in a calibration and validation campaign for a large-format photogrammetric imaging system, the Intergraph DMC. The major objective of the campaign was to perform acceptance testing of the new camera system procured by the National Land Survey of Finland. The evaluation proved the high geometric and radiometric performance of the imaging system and demonstrated the potential of spectrodirectional photogrammetric 3D imaging. The usability aspects of test site calibration and validation from the point of view of a mapping organisation were also considered.
