[Termes IGN] point d'appuiRésumé : (auteur) Ground control points (GCPs) are necessary in order to achieve precise georeferencing of high-resolution satellite (HRS) imagery. However, measuring GCPs is costly, laborious, and time consuming. In some remote areas, we cannot even obtain well-defined GCPs. In this study, a strip constraint model is established. Based on the bias-compensated rational function model and the strip constraint model, a feasible extrapolated georeferencing approach for HRS imagery is presented. The presented approach remains effective even when the intermediate images in the strip are unavailable. Experimental results of the two ZiYuan-3 (ZY-3) nadir datasets show that the direct georeferencing accuracy of the ZY-3 nadir images reaches only 9 to 12 pixels. With four GCPs in the first image, the georeferencing accuracy of the other images in the strip is improved to better than 2 pixels through extrapolated georeferencing. [Termes IGN] orthoimageRésumé : (Auteur) Using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) drone with an attached non-metric camera has become a popular low-cost approach for collecting geospatial data. A well-georeferenced orthoimage is a fundamental product for geomatics professionals. To achieve high positioning accuracy of orthoimages, precise sensor position and orientation data, or a number of ground control points (GCPs), are often required. Alternatively, image registration is a solution for improving the accuracy of a UAV orthoimage, as long as a historical reference image is available. This study proposes a registration scheme, including an Accelerated Binary Robust Invariant Scalable Keypoints (ABRISK) algorithm and spatial analysis of corresponding control points for image registration. To determine a match between two input images, feature descriptors from one image are compared with those from another image. A “Sorting Ring” is used to filter out uncorrected feature pairs as early as possible in the stage of matching feature points, to speed up the matching process. The results demonstrate that the proposed ABRISK approach outperforms the vector-based Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) approach where radiometric variations exist. ABRISK is 19.2 times and 312 times faster than SIFT for image sizes of 1000 × 1000 pixels and 4000 × 4000 pixels, respectively. ABRISK is 4.7 times faster than Binary Robust Invariant Scalable Keypoints (BRISK). Furthermore, the positional accuracy of the UAV orthoimage after applying the proposed image registration scheme is improved by an average of root mean square error (RMSE) of 2.58 m for six test orthoimages whose spatial resolutions vary from 6.7 cm to 10.7 cm. [Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) Image-to-geometry registration is the basis of many applications for texturing and interpreting 3D surface models. Feature-based matching is an established, automatic approach which creates 2D–3D correspondences based on salient points and their radiometric neighbourhood. This paper presents an experimental approach for assessing the accuracy of several matching algorithms in challenging imaging environments that are subject to significant outdoor illumination variations. Furthermore, a collection of accuracy assessment metrics and quality heuristics emerge from the presented approach to guide a user during the examination of registration results. As a result of the experiments, two novel salient point descriptor matching combinations outperform the standard scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) operator on the task of image-to-image and image-to-geometry registration under varying illumination conditions. [Termes IGN] variable régionaliséeRésumé : (auteur) Almost every researcher has come through observations that “drift” from the rest of the sample, suggesting some inconsistency. The aim of this paper is to propose a new inconsistent data detection method for continuous geospatial data based in Geostatistics, independently from the generative cause (measuring and execution errors and inherent variability data). The choice of Geostatistics is based in its ideal characteristics, as avoiding systematic errors, for example. The importance of a new inconsistent detection method proposal is in the fact that some existing methods used in geospatial data consider theoretical assumptions hardly attended. Equally, the choice of the data set is related to the importance of the LiDAR technology (Light Detection and Ranging) in the production of Digital Elevation Models (DEM). Thus, with the new methodology it was possible to detect and map discrepant data. Comparing it to a much utilized detections method, BoxPlot, the importance and functionality of the new method was verified, since the BoxPlot did not detect any data classified as discrepant. The proposed method pointed that, in average, 1,2% of the data of possible regionalized inferior outliers and, in average, 1,4% of possible regionalized superior outliers, in relation to the set of data used in the study.
