[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) Digital elevation model (DEM) filtering is critical in DEM production, and large-area meter-level resolution DEM is mainly generated from high-resolution satellite images. However, the current DEM filtering methods are mostly aimed at laser scanning data and tend to excessively remove ground points when processing a satellite digital surface model (DSM). To accurately filter out buildings and preserve terrain, we propose a DEM filtering algorithm using building segmentation results of orthophoto. Based on morphological filtering, our method estimates the probability of being a built-up area or mountains for DSM, and according to this probability the filtering parameters are adaptively adjusted. For robustness, our method performs the above filtering operation on DSM through a sliding-window approach, and finally the nonground points are determined by the votes of multiple filtering. Experiments against six representative data sets have shown that our method achieved superior performance than classical algorithms and commercial software. In this article, the remote sensing of forest parameters using multimodal remote sensing is presented. In particular, polarimetric radar, Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR), and near-IR passive optical sensing platforms are employed in conjunction with physics-based models. These models are used to accurately estimate forest aboveground biomass as well as canopy height in homogeneous areas. It is shown that this proposed method is capable of achieving high accuracy estimates while using minimal ancillary data in the estimation process. We present a method to combine measured data sets with our geometric and electromagnetic sensor models to develop a forest parameter estimation algorithm that fuses multimodal remote sensing technologies with a minimal amount of ground information and yields an accurate estimate of forest structure including dry biomass and canopy height with rms errors of 1.6 kg/m 2 and 1.68 m respectively. [Termes IGN] SlovénieRésumé : (auteur) The concepts of ecotopes and forest sites are used to describe the correlative complexes defined by landform, vegetation structure, forest stand characteristics and the relationship between soil and physiography. Physically heterogeneous landscapes such as karst, which is characterized by abundant sinkholes and outcrops, exhibit diverse microtopography. Understanding the variation in the growth of trees in a heterogeneous topography is important for sustainable forest management. An R script for detailed stem analysis was used to reconstruct the height growth histories of individual trees (steam analysis). The results of this study reveal that the topographic factors influencing the height growth of silver fir trees can be detected within forest stands. Using topography modelling, we classified silver fir trees into groups with significant differences in height growth. This study provides a sound basis for the comparison of forest site differences and may be useful in the calibration of models for various tree species. [Termes IGN] ruissellementRésumé : (Auteur) The accurate estimation of terrain characteristics is central in rainfall runoff modelling. In this study, influences of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) obtained from different sources, resolutions and rescaling techniques are compared for Peak flow prediction in a large-scale watershed by the Topographic driven model (TOPMODEL). The comparison includes graphical representation and statistical assessments using daily time series data. As a result, DEM extracted from contour map (DEM-Con) showed better performance when DEM resolutions increased, but the Advanced Space-borne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (DEM-Aster) continued to achieve less Relative Error (RE) at low resolution. Moreover, better RE values were found at cubic convolution technique to predict the peaks followed by nearest neighbor and bilinear. In addition, this study indicated that DEM resolution is more sensitive factor for TOPMODEL simulation compared to DEM sources and rescaling techniques for streamflow and peaks prediction.
