[Termes IGN] point d'appuiRésumé : (Auteur) The correct georeferencing of remote sensing images is a fundamental task in the photogrammetric processing for orthoimages and DEM generation and for feature extraction. In this paper, we focus on the georeferencing of pushbroom sensors with rigorous models, that is, approaches that are based on the photogrammetric collinearity equations and describe the exact acquisition geometry of the sensors. By solving a bundle adjustment, the sensor external orientation and additional geometric parameters describing the internal orientation are estimated. We tested two rigorous models developed in academic groups for the georeferencing of a stereopair from QuickBird. The first model (M1) has been implemented at the University La Sapienza, Rome. It is specifically designed for the orthorectification of pushbroom sensors carried on satellite platforms with asynchronous acquisition mode, like EROS-A and QuickBird. The model, implemented in the software SISAR, reconstructs of the orbital segment during the image acquisition through the knowledge of Keplerian orbital parameters, the sensor attitude, internal orientation and the self-calibration parameters. The second model (M2) is a rigorous sensor model for pushbroom linear array sensors, carried on airborne or spaceborne platforms. It estimates the parameters modelling the sensor internal and external orientation through a bundle adjustment, using a suitable number of ground control points. Our research included the orientation of the single images with rigorous model M1, the orientation of the stereo pair with rigorous model M2 and the comparison of the results with a rigorous model contained in commercial software (PCI OrthoEngine). The results demonstrate that by using rigorous models it is possible to achieve RMSE smaller than 1 pixel in the GPs if a sufficient number of GCPs are used. [Termes IGN] simulation PleiadesRésumé : (Auteur) The Pleiades system developed by the French space agency CNES shall be ready for launch in early 2009. It deals with a new generation of high resolution optical satellites. The great agility of Pleiades satellites with their motion capability in roll, pitch, and heading, will allow new acquisition modes which are impossible with SPOT series satellites. Indeed, the system will be able to perform three-fold stereoscopic colour images of 20km swath and 70cm resolution. Several experimentations and simulations are being carried out in order to verify the ability of the system to fulfill the technical and operational requirements of the map-making processes. Last year, a first study has been carried out on 3D city models production on two small areas from simulated images and with a lot of different contexts. Considering the promising results, studies carry on this year, with more different areas and Pleiades simulation images more realistic. Two other topics have been studied : automatic vegetation detection and DTM processing. Concerning building extraction we have used the same production line as last year. Concerning vegetation extraction we tested two methods. The first one is classic : we threshold the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). The second method is more elaborated : it deals with an algorithm which studies the value of texture features and transforms colour spaces for segmentation and classification. For the DTM calculation we have used a method based on elastic grid algorithm. Finally we have integrated all these different necessary primitives (buildings, vegetation and DTM) to produce a complete 3D model on new datatests areas. [Termes IGN] qualité des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Airborne laser scanning and image matching can today form the basis for the generation of digital terrain models (DTMs). In addition to the DTM, quality parameters are needed that describe the accuracy at a high level of detail, at best for every interpolated DTM point. Furthermore, other parameters are of interest, for example, the distance from each DTM point to the data point next to it. This paper presents a method to derive accuracy measures from the original data and the DTM itself. Its application is demonstrated with an example. The quality measures are suitable for informing users in detail about DTM quality and warning them of weakly determined areas.
