[Termes IGN] SIG ouvertRésumé : (Auteur) At this time, many problems hinder the development of web based applications relying on geographic information : the lack of interoperability between geographic data models implemented in GIS software, the use of proprietary programming languages, the weak capabilities of commercial GIS for the deployment of applications over the Internet, etc. In order to tackle these problems, numerous technologies in software engineering have emerged : standard and extensible object-oriented programming languages with web capabilities, development techniques based on reusable software components and model driven architectures, object-relational database management system enabling the storage and querying of geographic information. Taking benefit from all these more and more mature technologies, a new interoperable platform (named OXYGENE) has been designed and developed at the COGIT laboratory of IGN. It aims at providing an open framework for the development of research applications and allows for the centralisation of codes, their documentation and an easy maintenance/upgrade (preservation of researches). By embedding standard remote procedure call protocols and services description languages, this platform aims at deploying researches undertaken at the COGIT laboratory as true "geographic web services". The architecture and the model of the OXYGENE platform will first be presented and detailed. The development of geographic web services will then be discussed and illustrated with an example stemming from an application implemented at the COGIT laboratory. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) This paper deals with the enrichment of Triangulated Irregular Networks (TIN) with linear vector data such as roads, orography and hydrology, or with surfacic vector data such as buildings and lakes. On the real ground, these features locally modify the relief intensively. We want to integrate these micro-reliefs in the TIN. In particular, this is the case of roads, frequently made with excavation/embankment, or dikes. Moreover, some of these objects follow physical rules. Our aim is to rectify the TIN on the basis of such rules. We know, for example, that rivers always flow in talwegs and always downhill. Simply placing vector geographical objects on a TIN generally gives unrealistic results. For example, we can often see rivers running uphill because of bad integration. Our aim is to integrate 3D geographical objects in a TIN in order to compute an accurate TIN, ressembling ground reality as much as possible. [Termes IGN] standard OGCRésumé : (Auteur) Geographical metadata are a crucial element for managing and using geographical information. So far, agreement has been reached on a metadata model that should be an international standard soon. Some issues still remain like the definition of application profiles based on this metadata model, which is still an ongoing effort from ISO. Others are usage issues like convincing actors of the necessity of contributing to the metadata effort. In this paper, we present a research which aims at demonstrating, in a limited context, the value of metadata. We focus on a specific application : a prototype of an enterprise portal to share contents, tools, services and know-how inside the Institut Géographique National (the French mapping agency). We called it PARTAGE (french word for "sharing"). For the purpose of this application, we propose a metadata profile based on existing ISO and OGC standards. The first part of this paper introduces our general approach. User requirements are briefly presented in the next part. We then present the core models of the portal and the development of Web services it provides.
