[Termes IGN] réseau altimétrique nationalRésumé : (Auteur) This paper aims to identify most suitable global geopotential model (GGM) for India, by comparing 15 GGMs developed through 1996 to 2017. The GGM derived geoid undulation values are compared with the geometrical undulation values obtained from GNSS/levelling data on Indian vertical datum. A correction term is added to the computed GGM derived geoid undulation value after fitting three-, four-, five- and seven-parameter models to account for bias and tilt between local geometric Indian vertical datum and global gravimetric vertical datum. The results indicate that EGM2008 model is the best GGM available for India with root-mean-square error (RMSE) of 0.28 m, without model fitting. However, after considering the systematic errors in the two datums with seven-parameter model, GECO GGM has shown significantly better results with RMSE of 0.19 m for India. [Termes IGN] zone à risqueRésumé : (auteur) We present a procedure for assessing the urban exposure and seismic vulnerability that integrates LiDAR data with aerial images from the Spanish National Plan of Aerial Orthophotography (PNOA). It comprises three phases: first, we segment the satellite image to divide the study area into different urban patterns. Second, we extract building footprints and attributes that represent the type of building of each urban pattern. Finally, we assign the seismic vulnerability to each building using different machine-learning techniques: Decision trees, SVM, logistic regression and Bayesian networks. We apply the procedure to 826 buildings in the city of Lorca (SE Spain), where we count on a vulnerability database that we use as ground truth for the validation of results. The outcomes show that the machine learning techniques have similar performance, yielding vulnerability classification results with an accuracy of 77%–80% (F1-Score). The procedure is scalable and can be replicated in different areas. This is particularly relevant in Spain, where more than seven hundred towns have to develop seismic risk studies in the years to come, according to the General Direction of Civil Protection and Emergencies. It is especially interesting as a complement to conventional data gathering approaches for disaster risk applications in cities where field surveys need to be restricted to certain areas, dates or budget. [Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (Auteur) The accuracy by which velocities can be estimated from GNSS time series is mainly determined by the low-frequency noise, below 0.2–0.1 cpy, which are normally described by a power-law model. As GNSS observations have now been recorded for over two decades, new information about the noise at these low frequencies has become available and we investigate whether alternative noise models should be considered using the log-likelihood, Akaike and Bayesian information criteria. Using 110 globally distributed IGS stations with at least 12 years of observations, we find that for 80–90% of them the preferred noise models are still the power law or flicker noise with white noise. For around 6% of the stations, we found the presence of random-walk noise, which increases the linear trend uncertainty when taken into account in the stochastic noise model of the time series by about a factor of 1.5 to 8.4, in agreement with previous studies. Next, the Generalised Gauss–Markov with white noise model describes the stochastic properties better for 4% and 5% of the stations for the East and North component, respectively, and 13% for the vertical component. For these stations, the uncertainty associated with the tectonic rate is about 2 times smaller compared to the case when the standard power-law plus white noise model is used.
