[Termes IGN] TerraSAR-XRésumé : (Auteur) The along-track interferometric synthetic aperture radar (along-track InSAR) technique for mapping ocean currents at high spatial resolution from aircraft or satellites was introduced in the late 1980's. Since then, hardware and algorithms have been improved in the course of many projects and experiments. Airborne InSARs are now available for routine surveys. Current measurements from space could be demonstrated with data acquired from a Space Shuttle in february 2000. A first civilian satellite offering along-track InSAR capabilities over some longer period will become available in 2006. It will be transported to the ISS, together with its payload complement, on Space Shuttle Assembly Flight 1E in 2006. Colombus's readiness for launch requires the availability not only of the module itself, but also three other major elements being provided by ESA, namely : The Ground Segment, consisting of the Colombus Control Centre and the User Support and Operations Centres (USOCs), the Operations products, and the Crew Training. The enormous progress since then has required a complete reworking. While basic material has been retained other parts are completely updated. However, there is a seamless welding of new ideas and methods (GPS, satellites, collocation). Highlights include: emphasis on global integration of geometry and gravity, a simplified approach to Molodensky's theory without integral equations, and a general combination of all geodetic data by least-squares collocation. In the second edition minor mistakes have been corrected. The satellite is first discussed in the context of the laws of space mechanics. The various categories of orbit (circular, elliptical, high, low, geostationary, and Sun-synchronous) are then presented, together with the problem of sampling (when and how the satellite views its target). There is then a study of specific cases, in particular, applying all the ideas encountered for Earth-orbiting satellites to the case of a satellite in orbit around Mars.Note de contenu : 1 - Keplerian Motion
