[Termes IGN] vitesse radialeRésumé : (Auteur) In order to enhance the performance of spaceborne synthetic aperture radar-ground moving target indication (SAR-GMTI) systems, multichannel systems with large and preferably nonuniform baselines are required. In this paper, SAR-GMTI algorithms for multichannel SAR systems, which we call multichannel displaced phase center antenna (DPCA), multichannel along track interferometry (ATI), and multichannel DPCA-ATI, are presented. Multichannel DPCA is a deterministic algorithm for clutter and azimuth ambiguity suppression. It successfully suppresses not only uniform azimuth ambiguities but also nonuniform isolated ones, since it does not require uniform clutter covariance assumption as adaptive algorithms do. Multichannel ATI and multichannel DPCA-ATI are the algorithms for target radial velocity estimation. Both of them reduce the target radial velocity ambiguities, which arise with the long baseline systems, by exploiting the multiple receive channel signals. And multichannel DPCA-ATI further achieves robust performance to clutter influence by suppressing the clutter and the azimuth ambiguity in advance. The performances of the proposed algorithms are shown through airborne Ku-band three-channel SAR experiments. It is shown that the multichannel DPCA suppresses strong azimuth ambiguity up to more than 20 dB, and the accuracy of the radial velocity estimation of the multichannel DPCA-ATI is on the order of 0.1 m/s. Furthermore, statistical performance analysis is presented to discuss the potential performance on the spaceborne system. [Termes IGN] surface terrièreRésumé : (auteur) Exploring the possibility to produce nation-wide forest attribute maps using stereophotogrammetry of aerial images, the national terrain model and data from the National Forest Inventory (NFI). The study areas are four image acquisition blocks in mid- and south Sweden. Regression models were developed and applied to 12.5 m × 12.5 m raster cells for each block and validation was done with an independent dataset of forest stands. Model performance was compared for eight different forest types separately and the accuracies between forest types clearly differs for both image- and LiDAR methods, but between methods the difference in accuracy is small at plot level. At stand level, the root mean square error in percent of the mean (RMSE%) were ranging: from 7.7% to 10.5% for mean height; from 12.0% to 17.8% for mean diameter; from 21.8% to 22.8% for stem volume; and from 17.7% to 21.1% for basal area. This study clearly shows that aerial images from the national image program together with field sample plots from the NFI can be used for large area forest attribute mapping. [Termes IGN] segmentationRésumé : (auteur) We consider a semi-parametric approach to perform the joint segmentation of multiple series sharing a common functional part. We propose an iterative procedure based on Dynamic Programming for the segmentation part and Lasso estimators for the functional part. Our Lasso procedure, based on the dictionary approach, allows us to both estimate smooth functions and functions with local irregularity, which permits more flexibility than previous proposed methods. This yields to a better estimation of the functional part and improvements in the segmentation. The performance of our method is assessed using simulated data and real data from agriculture and geodetic studies. Our estimation procedure results to be a reliable tool to detect changes and to obtain an interpretable estimation of the functional part of the model in terms of known functions. [Vedettes matières IGN] Inventaire forestierRésumé : (auteur) The Chinese National Forest Inventory (NFI) has reported increased forest coverage in China since 2000, however, the new satellite-based dataset Global Forest Change (GFC) finds decreased forest coverage. In this study, four satellite datasets are used to investigate this discrepancy in forest cover change estimates in China between 2000 and 2013: forest cover change estimated from MODIS Normalized Burn Ratio (NBR), existing MODIS Land Cover (LC) and Vegetation Continuous Fields (VCF) products, and the Landsat-based GFC. Among these satellite datasets, forest loss shows much better agreement in terms of total change area and spatial pattern than do forest gain. The net changes in forest cover as a proportion of China’s land area varied widely from increases of 1.56% in NBR, 1.93% in VCF, and 3.40% in LC to a decline of −0.40% in GFC. The magnitude of net forest increase derived from MODIS datasets (1.56–3.40%) is lower than that reported in NFI (3.41%). Algorithm parameters, different spatial resolutions, and inconsistent forest definitions could be important sources of the discrepancies. Although several MODIS datasets support an overall forest increase in China, the direction and magnitude of net forest change is still unknown due to the large uncertainties in satellite-derived estimates.
