[Termes IGN] modélisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we consider a computational method for detecting trees on the basis of airborne laser scanning (ALS) data. In the approach, locations, heights, and crown shapes of trees are tracked automatically by fitting multiple 3-D crown height models to ALS data of a field plot. The estimates are computed with an iterative reconstruction method based on Bayesian inversion paradigm. The formulation allows for utilizing prior information on tree shapes in the estimation. Here, the prior models are written based on field measurement data and allometric models for tree shapes. The feasibility of the approach is tested with ALS and field data from a managed boreal forest. The algorithm found 70.2% of the trees in the area, which is a clear improvement compared to a usual 2.5D crown delineation approach (53.1% of the trees detected). [Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we investigate the accuracy of the earth orientation parameters (EOP) estimated from the continuous VLBI campaign CONT11. We first estimated EOP with daily resolution and compared these to EOP estimated from GNSS data. We find that the WRMS differences are about 31 u as for polar motion and 7 u s for length of day. This is about the precision we could expect, based on Monte Carlo simulations and the results of the previous CONT campaigns. We also estimated EOP with hourly resolution to study the sub-diurnal variations. The results confirm the results of previous studies, showing that the current IERS model for high-frequency EOP variations does not explain all the sub-diurnal variations seen in the estimated time series. We then compared our results to various empirical high-frequency EOP models. However, we did not find that any of these gave any unambiguous improvement. Several simulations testing the impact of various aspects of, e.g. the observing network were also made. For example, we made simulations assuming that all CONT11 stations were equipped with fast VLBI2010 antennas. We found that the WRMS error decreased by about a factor five compared to the current VLBI system. Furthermore, the simulations showed that it is very important to have a homogenous global distribution of the stations for achieving the highest precision for the EOP. [Termes IGN] modèle non linéaireRésumé : (auteur) Parametric nonlinear mixed effects models (NLMEs) are now widely used in biometrical studies, especially in pharmacokinetics research and HIV dynamics models, due to, among other aspects, the computational advances achieved during the last years. However, this kind of models may not be flexible enough for complex longitudinal data analysis. Semiparametric NLMEs (SNMMs) have been proposed as an extension of NLMEs. These models are a good compromise and retain nice features of both parametric and nonparametric models resulting in more flexible models than standard parametric NLMEs. However, SNMMs are complex models for which estimation still remains a challenge. Previous estimation procedures are based on a combination of log-likelihood approximation methods for parametric estimation and smoothing splines techniques for nonparametric estimation. In this work, we propose new estimation strategies in SNMMs. On the one hand, we use the Stochastic Approximation version of EM algorithm (SAEM) to obtain exact ML and REML estimates of the fixed effects and variance components. On the other hand, we propose a LASSO-type method to estimate the unknown nonlinear function. We derive oracle inequalities for this nonparametric estimator. We combine the two approaches in a general estimation procedure that we illustrate with simulations and through the analysis of a real data set of price evolution in on-line auctions. [Termes IGN] méthode de Monte-CarloRésumé : (Auteur) In connection with the work for the next generation VLBI2010 Global Observing System (VGOS) of the International VLBI Service for Geodesy and Astrometry, a new scheduling package (Vie_Sched) has been developed at the Vienna University of Technology as a part of the Vienna VLBI Software. In addition to the classical station-based approach it is equipped with a new scheduling strategy based on the radio sources to be observed. We introduce different configurations of source-based scheduling options and investigate the implications on present and future VLBI2010 geodetic schedules. By comparison to existing VLBI schedules of the continuous campaign CONT11, we find that the source-based approach with two sources has a performance similar to the station-based approach in terms of number of observations, sky coverage, and geodetic parameters. For an artificial 16 station VLBI2010 network, the source-based approach with four sources provides an improved distribution of source observations on the celestial sphere. Monte Carlo simulations yield slightly better repeatabilities of station coordinates with the source-based approach with two sources or four sources than the classical strategy. The new VLBI scheduling software with its alternative scheduling strategy offers a promising option with respect to applications of the VGOS.
