[Termes IGN] taille du jeu de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) Land cover data is an inventory of objects on the Earth’s surface, which is often derived from remotely sensed imagery. Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DCNN) is a competitive method in image semantic segmentation. Some scholars argue that the inadequacy of training set is an obstacle when applying DCNNs in remote sensing image segmentation. While existing land cover data can be converted to large training sets, the size of training data set needs to be carefully considered. In this paper, we used different portions of a high-resolution land cover map to produce different sizes of training sets to train DCNNs (SegNet and U-Net) and then quantitatively evaluated the impact of training set size on the performance of the trained DCNN. We also introduced a new metric, Edge-ratio, to assess the performance of DCNN in maintaining the boundary of land cover objects. Based on the experiments, we document the relationship between the segmentation accuracy and the size of the training set, as well as the nonstationary accuracies among different land cover types. The findings of this paper can be used to effectively tailor the existing land cover data to training sets, and thus accelerate the assessment and employment of deep learning techniques for high-resolution land cover map extraction. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Urban black holes and volcanoes are typical traffic anomalies that are useful for optimizing urban planning and maintaining public safety. It is still challenging to detect arbitrarily shaped urban black holes and volcanoes considering the network constraints with less prior knowledge. This study models urban black holes and volcanoes as bivariate spatial clusters and develops a network-constrained bivariate clustering method for detecting statistically significant urban black holes and volcanoes with irregular shapes. First, an edge-expansion strategy is proposed to construct the network-constrained neighborhoods without the time-consuming calculation of the network distance between each pair of objects. Then, a network-constrained spatial scan statistic is constructed to detect urban black holes and volcanoes, and a multidirectional optimization method is developed to identify arbitrarily shaped urban black holes and volcanoes. Finally, the statistical significance of multiscale urban black holes and volcanoes is evaluated using Monte Carlo simulation. The proposed method is compared with three state-of-the-art methods using both simulated data and Beijing taxicab spatial trajectory data. The comparison shows that the proposed method can detect urban black holes and volcanoes more accurately and completely and is useful for detecting spatiotemporal variations of traffic anomalies. When mining regional patterns, the use of a spatial relationship that is determined without considering the spatial correlation among geographical objects can lead to problematic results, e.g. mistakenly treating unrelated objects as adjacent. Additionally, traditional prevalence measures are unstable for uneven datasets such as LULC, wherein some land-use change types show small numbers and uneven quantities, and valuable rules for some land-use categories may be ignored. Therefore, we proposed a regional pattern mining method. First, we developed adaptive adjacent criteria, which can be automatically generated for each specific zone to define adjacency for better spatial-temporal mining. Then, a combinational decision model was built to improve the stability of the prevalence measure, which was used to filter out the insignificant spatial-temporal rules. Furthermore, we proposed two levels of land-use pattern mining, i.e. cluster-level mining and polygon-level mining, to first discover hot-spot areas where similar land-use change has occurred frequently and then to determine the location, frequency, and change time of rules related to different land-use activities. The proposed method was used for mining the dependence of land use and regional patterns on land-use changes. Results show that the proposed method can determine the spatial dependence between the land-use categories, as well as regional patterns of land-use changes. According to our research, the study area, Xinbei District, China, is undergoing land-use change involving rapid urbanization, extensive transportation construction, and losses of farmland. [Termes IGN] tracé routierRésumé : (auteur) Cycling lane centerlines (CLC) play an important role in the evaluation of safety-related conditions and guiding systems for cyclists along road corridors. The unavailability of design files or undocumented changes in the road infrastructures after improvements has created great difficulty in delineating CLC on existing roads. In this study, mobile laser scanning (MLS) data are introduced into this domain and a four-step semi-automated framework is proposed for generating CLC on roads with roadside barriers (RB). First, MLS data are restructured into the aligned scan-pattern grid using the mapping trajectory data. Second, a rasterization-based clustering approach is applied to segment the off-ground objects from the reorganized MLS data. Third, the RB amongst the segmented objects are identified using a sequential application of the k-Means clustering method and the proposed unidirectional growing method. Finally, the moving average technique and natural cubic spline are applied to generate CLC from the critical positions alongside the identified RB. Testing on three road sections with different types of RB demonstrated that the developed framework can successfully generate CLC from MLS data in the presence of considerable noises. The results also show that the proposed procedure shows better accuracy performance on processing roads with wide RB than a road with narrow RB. This paper illuminates four aspects concerning the problem of uniting geographical information technology with old geometric maps. These are as follows: first, the origin of and geometric qualities in the representation of objects in geometric maps; second, the distortions originating from measurement techniques; third, the assumption that it is possible to find points that are the same over time for rectification in Geographic Information System (GIS); and, fourth, the extrapolation of unsystematic geometric distortions when using GIS techniques without any knowledge of the present unsystematic distortions in a map. The article presents the background of Swedish geometric maps and a hypothetical example is used to present the principle problems of using GIS techniques to rectify geometric maps. The conclusion of the paper is that systematic and unsystematic geometric distortions need to be identified and handled separately.
