[Termes IGN] surveillance de la végétationRésumé : (Editeur) Starlab Barcelona is the developer of Oceanpal, a fully operational GNSS-R system for water-oriented services (see Figure 1). This article provides a brief description of this instrument and the range of water applications it offers: sea state monitoring and sea level monitoring, as well as inland water (i.e. lake) applications. Moreover, recent research has evidenced the applicability of this instrument for soil moisture related applications and measurement of land bio-geophysical parameters. [extrait] The fundamentals behind this concept are to use not only the direct GNSS signals coming from the transmitting satellites, but also to process the same GNSS signals reflected from the Earth's surface (see Figure 2 for the on-ground case). The direct and reflected signals are compared in order to extract some relevant geophysical information, especially related to water surface (inland or sea). In order to exploit this concept, a GNSS-R instrument (Oceanpal in particular) features a zenith-looking antenna that gathers the direct signal, and a nadir-looking antenna that collects the reflected signal. [Termes IGN] utilisateur civilRésumé : (Auteur) Many civil GNSS applications need secure, assured information for asset tracking, fleet management and the like. But there is also a growing demand for geosecurity location-based services such as hardware configuration and management, virtual site licenses, digital rights management and geofencing. Unfortunately, GNSS is vulnerable to malicious intrusion and spoofing. How can users be sure the information they receive is authentic? This article introduces a new method that uses hidden attributes fundamental to the GPS satellite broadcast — and cross-compared between two receivers — to authenticate signals and the location solutions they generate. [Termes IGN] teneur totale en électronsRésumé : (Auteur) The main scope of this research is to assess the ultimate accuracy that can be achieved for the slant total electron content (sTEC) estimated from dual-frequency global positioning system (GPS) observations which depends, primarily, on the calibration of the inter-frequency biases (IFB). Two different calibration approaches are analyzed: the so-called satellite-by-satellite one, which involves levelling the carrier-phase to the code-delay GPS observations and then the IFB estimation; and the so-called arc-by-arc one, which avoids the use of code-delay observations but requires the estimation of arc-dependent biases. Two strategies are used for the analysis: the first one compares calibrated sTEC from two co-located GPS receivers that serve to assess the levelling errors; and the second one, assesses the model error using synthetic data free of calibration error, produced with a specially developed technique. The results show that the arc-by-arc calibration technique performs better than the satellite-by-satellite one for mid-latitudes, while the opposite happens for low-latitudes.
