[Termes IGN] taxiRésumé : (Auteur) Clustering on spatiotemporal point events with multiple types is an important step for exploratory data mining and can help us reveal the correlation of event types. In this article, we present an effective method for discovering spatiotemporal multi‐type clusters containing events with different densities and event types (STME). Particularly, the type of events in a cluster can be different, and clusters with similar densities but different internal compositions should be distinguished. We use the distance to the kth nearest neighbour to define the size of the searched neighbourhood, and expand clusters by the concept of cluster reachable, ensuring that the proportion of various types of events in the cluster remains stable. The concept of clustering priority is also proposed to make the cluster always expand from the region with the highest density, which improves the robustness of clustering. Moreover, the density of multiple types of events in clusters is estimated to discover the internal structure of clusters and further explore the correlation between events. The effectiveness of the STME algorithm is demonstrated in several simulated and real data sets, including points of interest data in Beijing and the origins and destinations of taxi trips in New York. [Termes IGN] zone semi-arideRésumé : (auteur) The aim of this study is to compare the effect of two sampling patterns: systematic sampling and Latin hypercube sampling (LHS), on estimation precision of snow water equivalent (SWE), and also comparing different geostatistics methods of kriging, cokriging and radial basin functions for mapping SWE. To achieve the study purpose, the semi-arid mountainous watershed of Sohrevard in Zanjan Province of Iran was selected. Snow depth in 150 points with systematic sampling and 150 points with LHS sampling and snow density in 18 points were randomly measured. In addition, SWE was calculated in the study area, and its map was derived based on both the sampling methods using geostatistical techniques. The results showed that the accuracy of the SWE map using LHS was higher than systematic sampling. According to the most statistical indicators, in both methods of sampling, accuracy of mapping using regular spline was better than other methods. [Termes IGN] ville intelligenteRésumé : (auteur) [introduction] While already just over 50% of the world population lives in cities, it is expected that on balance practically all population growth up to 2050 is in cities, amounting to 3 billion extra urban inhabitants amounting to a total urban population of 6.5 billion people (Revi et al., 2014). Cities are particularly vulnerable to climate change because of their high concentration of population, goods, capital stock, and infrastructures. Heat waves in particular, enhanced locally by the so-called Urban Heat Island (UHI) lead to an above-normal mortality rate in cities (Wong et al., 2013; Shaposhnikov et al., 2014). Intense precipitation in urban areas, on the other hand, cause more easily floods with dire consequences because of the impermeability of the urban surfaces (Muis et al., 2015; Yin et al., 2016). Air quality conditions in cities are recurrently and often even continuously exceeding health limits. Furthermore, cities are strong emitters of greenhouse-gases, as the high concentration of human activities, like transport and industry, entails high levels of energy consumption. [Termes IGN] zone à risqueRésumé : (auteur) Key message: The potential of airborne laser scanning (ALS) and multispectral remote sensing data to aid in generating improved wind damage risk maps over large forested areas is demonstrated. This article outlines a framework to generate such maps, primarily utilizing the horizontal structural information contained in the ALS data. Validation was done over an area in Eastern Finland that had experienced sporadic wind damage.
Context: Wind is the most prominent disturbance element for Finnish forests. Hence, tools are needed to generate wind damage risk maps for large forested areas, and their possible changes under planned silvicultural operations.
Aims: (1) How effective are ALS-based forest variables (e.g. distance to upwind forest stand edge, gap size) for identifying high wind damage risk areas? (2) Can robust estimates of predicted critical wind speeds for uprooting of trees be derived from these variables? (3) Can these critical wind speed estimates be improved using wind multipliers, which factor in topography and terrain roughness effects?
Methods: We first outline a framework to generate several wind damage risk–related parameters from remote sensing data (ALS + multispectral). Then, we assess if such parameters have predictive power. That is, whether they help differentiate between damaged and background points. This verification exercise used 42 wind damaged points spread over a large area.
Results: Parameters derived from remote sensing data are shown to have predictive power. Risk models based on critical wind speeds are not that robust, but show potential for improvement.
Conclusion: Overall, this work described a framework to get several wind risk–related parameters from remote sensing data. The proposed system integrates a V‐STARS N platinum photogrammetric system from Geodetic Systems, a DJI M600 Pro UAS with Ronin‐MX gimbal and a dual antenna for real‐time kinematic positioning. The paper presents the system architecture and the developed software for camera network simulation and image acquisition. As an acquisition scenario, a large dish parabolic antenna is simulated. The benefits of the developed procedure include the ability to handle obstacle avoidance and self‐occlusions and, employing a rigorous camera network simulation approach, to overcome the limitations of currently available flight planning commercial tools that are mainly conceived for mapping applications. Future work will consider extensive testing of the platform in real‐case scenarios.
