[Termes IGN] tourismeRésumé : (Auteur) Tourism information often is geographically related information and, therefore, many useful location related applications can be offered. A PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) in connection with GPS function allows us to guide tourists to the focused sights or to hiking and biking tours of a tourism region. For a multimedia visualisation of tourism information pictures, sounds, texts and video elements were integrated in order to record the effectiveness of the mobile device. Cartographic illustrations using satellite images and digital maps are the base for an innovative presentation of tourism information in their spatial context. [Termes IGN] Leica Photogrammetry SuiteRésumé : (Auteur) The recently released Leica Photogrammetry Suite (LPS) consists of numerous components that collectively form one system for use in workflows that involve transforming raw imagery into reliable geospatial data layers used in GIS and CAD applications. The individual components in LPS 8.7 include LPS Core, LPS ATE (Automatic Terrain Extraction), LPS Terrain Editor, Stereo Analyst for ERDAS IMAGINE, Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS and LPS PR0600. The product can be used to geo-reference, ortho-rectify, analyse and extract data from imagery. Since LPS 8.7 is tightly coupled to ERDAS IMAGINE V8.7 which is a full featured, robust image analysis software for high quality and professionat image analysis, users gain the advantages of image analysis coupled to image orientation 1 data extraction all within one platform. The following is our review of the software. [Termes IGN] service fondé sur la positionRésumé : (Auteur) Road network depiction is one of the most important aspects of modern mapping. Consistent, accurate network data available from a number of government and businesses is invaluable for transport, fleet and asset management strategies. Local authorities use it to monitor street repairs, white utility companies use it to improve upon the identification of road sections that require pipe-work maintenance. Integration of GPS technology with road data assists haulage firms and emergency services to maintain real-time tracking of mobile and stationary vehicles. There are also emerging uses on the mobile internet with the development of location-based services (LBS) for people on the move. Copyright Geoinformatics. Much of Europe's efforts have been channeled through ESA - which, in the Earth observation area, appears to be dominated by those European scientists who are- involved in global environmental monitoring. [Termes IGN] zone humideRésumé : (Auteur) In 2000 English Heritage challenged the Department of Archaeology at the University of Exeter to undertake assessment of the state of archaeology in the bogs and marshes of England. These wetlands are an incredibly diverse and fragile resource from within which some of the countries most enigmatic arch aeologicat finds have been discovered. The project entitled the Monuments at Risk in England's Wetlands or MAREW for short was published by Exeter University in 2002. It summarized that at least 50% of the original extent of lowland peatlands have been lost in the last 50 years, and alongside this an estimated 10,450 wetland monuments have been destroyed or damaged during the same period. Why has this happened?
