Rather than build and maintain separate databases containing cartographic features at different map scales, IGM has integrated its existing databases into a single spatial data warehouse from which customized and standard map products are created. Named DB25 project, this endeavor now utilizes one digital workflow, constructed around state-of-the-art geospatial technology, to output the wide variety of cartographic products historically provided by IGM. The cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Cologne and is a spiritual centre of the religious life of the Roman Catholic Church in Germany. Due to its enormous size and being built up in pure original Gothic style, it is a Gothic masterpiece and, thus, is even one of Europe's most famous monuments. Several new features and additions are presented at ArcGIS 9.0, which enable new approaches for the development, handling and distribution of geographical information. These also provide increased capabilities for the construction of spatial related applications. The family of ArcGIS products consists of Desktop GIS, Server GIS, Embedded GIS and Mobile GIS. In this review, we look at the ArcView 9.0 product - within the Desktop GIS family. We also include a review of the new ArcGIS 3D Analyst to provide an understanding of the extended 2-D and 3-D visualization and representation capabilities. For this review we have tailored our work toward first time users because the product has so many new features for experienced users also.
