[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) Very high spatial resolution (VHR) multispectral imagery enables a fine delineation of objects and a possible use of texture information. Other sensors provide a lower spatial resolution but an enhanced spectral or temporal information, permitting one to consider richer land cover semantics. So as to benefit from the complementary characteristics of these multimodal sources, a decision late fusion scheme is proposed. This makes it possible to benefit from the full capacities of each sensor, while dealing with both semantic and spatial uncertainties. The different remote-sensing modalities are first classified independently. Separate class membership maps are calculated and then merged at the pixel level, using decision fusion rules. A final label map is obtained from a global regularization scheme in order to deal with spatial uncertainties while conserving the contrasts from the initial images. It relies on a probabilistic graphical model involving a fit-to-data term related to merged class membership measures and an image-based contrast-sensitive regularization term. Conflict between sources can also be integrated into this scheme. Two experimental cases are presented. In the first case one considers the fusion of VHR multispectral imagery with lower spatial resolution hyperspectral imagery for fine-grained land cover classification problem in dense urban areas. In the second case one uses SPOT 6/7 satellite imagery and Sentinel-2 time series to extract urban area footprints through a two-step process: classifications are first merged in order to detect building objects, from which a urban area prior probability is derived and eventually merged to Sentinel-2 classification output for urban footprint detection. [Termes IGN] radar à antenne synthétiqueIndex. décimale : THESE Thèses et HDR Résumé : (auteur) The inherent speckle which is attached to any coherent imaging system affects the analysis and interpretation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. To take advantage of well-registered multi-temporal SAR images, we improve the adaptive nonlocal temporal filter with state-of-the-art adaptive denoising methods and propose a patch based adaptive temporal filter. To address the bias problem of the denoising results, we propose a fast and efficient multitemporal despeckling method. The key idea of the proposed approach is the use of the ratio image, provided by the ratio between an image and the temporal mean of the stack. This ratio image is easier to denoise than a single image thanks to its improved stationarity. Besides, temporally stable thin structures are well-preserved thanks to the multi-temporal mean. Without reference image, we propose to use a patch-based auto-covariance residual evaluation method to examine the residual image and look for possible remaining structural contents. With speckle reduction images, we propose to use simplified generalized likelihood ratio method to detect the change area, change magnitude and change times in long series of well-registered images. Based on spectral clustering, we apply the simplified generalized likelihood ratio to detect the time series change types. Then, jet colormap and HSV colorization may be used to vividly visualize the detection results. These methods have been successfully applied to monitor farmland area, urban area, harbor region, and flooding area changes. Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (Editeur) Above ground biomass has been listed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change as one of the five most prominent, visible, and dynamic terrestrial carbon pools. The increased awareness of the impacts of climate change has seen a burgeoning need to consistently assess carbon stocks to combat carbon sequestration. An accurate estimation of carbon stocks and an understanding of the carbon sources and sinks can aid the improvement and accuracy of carbon flux models, an important pre-requisite of climate change impact projections. Based on 15 research topics, this book demonstrates the role of remote sensing in quantifying above ground biomass (forest, grass, woodlands) across varying spatial and temporal scales. The innovative application areas of the book include algorithm development and implementation, accuracy assessment, scaling issues (local–regional–global biomass mapping), and the integration of microwaves (i.e. LiDAR), along with optical sensors, forest biomass mapping, rangeland productivity and abundance (grass biomass, density, cover), bush encroachment biomass, and seasonal and long-term biomass monitoring.
