[Termes IGN] texture d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) A new multiparameter and multiscale (MPMS) feature set derived from fractional Brownian motion (fBm) is presented in this paper. Generally, natural textures can be modeled as fBm processes. Because fBm is characterized by a single Hurst parameter, it is not flexible enough to be used as the texture feature in classification. Therefore, an extended model is proposed, where the Hurst parameter H is no longer constant for all the scales. The shape and location of the estimation curve, when presented graphically, are fixed for a particular texture. We use the slopes of sections of the estimation curve to estimate the multiscale Hurst parameters. Meanwhile, the unit displacement incremental power (UDIP) a' is also taken as the parameter of the process. It determines the vertical placement of the curve in the graph. Experiments prove that the MPMS feature set has advantages over some other features in the classification of SPOT images. [Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a fully automated approach for area detection and delineation based on multispectral images and features from a topographic database. The vectors residing in the database are refined using active contours (snakes) according to updated information provided by the multispectral images. The conventional methods of defining the external energy guiding the deformation of the snake based on: (1) statistical measures; or (2) gradientbased boundary finding is often corrupted by poor image quality. Here a method to integrate the two approaches is proposed using an estimation of the maximum a posteriori (MAP) segmentation in an effort to form a unified approach that is robust to noise and poor edges. We further propose to improve the accuracy of the resulting boundary location and update of the snake topology. A number of experiments are performed on both synthetic and LANDSAT 7 images to evaluate the approach. [Termes IGN] urbanisationRésumé : (Auteur) Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, has stepped into a rapid urbanisation stage since 1980s, especially in the last decade. The population growth in a narrow corner between the Atlantic Ocean and Sahara Desert, exposed to several risks of natural disasters, has produced an overburden to the infertile land and at the same time led to a degradation of the urban environment and difficulty of life. This research is focused on an urban expansion analysis and flood risk assessment by remote sensing techniques utilising multitemporal SPOT/HRV images and demographic data. Our aims are to understand the factors influencing expansion, evaluate the means of controlling environmental impacts and produce useful references for the future urban planning. The results show that Nouakchott had extended by 36 km2 at an annual growth rate of 5.3% and an average extension rate of 3.6 km2/yr corresponding to a population growth about 380,000 people from 1989 to 1999. Regression analysis suggests that the latter is the main dynamics driving the urban expansion (R' = 0.9873). Furthermore, the littoral depression, a belt in peril of seawater inundation between the coastal sandbar and urban districts, where future urban construction is recommended to avoid, was analysed and three risk degrees graded by spatial modelling. And finally, three inneglected points proposed for consideration in the future urban planning were discussed in this paper. These cameras are based on large CCD-matrices as well as CCD-line sensors and fulfill both : large field of view and high spatial resolution. Single -or multi-line cameras have been designed for spaceborne, airborne and terrestrial scanners to provide high-resolution wide angle or even panoramic imagery. Such cameras allow new approaches of 3D scene visualization/reconstruction and new applications in airborne and close range photogrammetry. This has influences on camera design and development, calibration, image acquisition and data processing. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) With increasing use of geographic information sytems (GIS) true ortho-projections gain more and more importance. True ortho-images are geometrically correct and can be overlayed and intersected with GIS date sources of all kind. A complete true ortho-computation requires a detailed digital surface model as input, which can be collected by the airborne laser scanning approach. The sensor package of TopoSys GmbH allows for a simultaneaous collection of high resolution height and multispectral image data. Using the image data of the TopoSys linear array scanner true orthophotos in RGB and infrared are derived through processing of the LIDAR digital surface model.
