[Termes IGN] prise en compte du contexteRésumé : (Auteur) A new algorithm based on the fusion of edge and multispectral information is proposed for the pixel-wise classification of very high-resolution (VHR) remotely sensed imagery. It integrates the multispectral, spatial and structural information existing in the image. The edge feature is first extracted using an improved multispectral edge detection method, which takes into account the original multispectral bands, the linear NDVI, and the independent spectral components extracted by independent component analysis (ICA). Direction-lines are then defined using the edge and multispectral information. Two effective spatial measures are calculated based on the direction-lines in order to describe the contextual information and strengthen the multispectral feature space. Then, the support vector machine (SVM) is employed to classify the hybrid structural-multispectral feature set. In experiments, the proposed spatial measures were compared with the pixel shape index (PSI) and the gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM). The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs well in terms of classification accuracies and visual interpretation. [Termes IGN] modèle numérique de surfaceRésumé : (Auteur) A continuous and autonomous co-registration and geo-location of image data from multiple sensors with widely varying view angles and resolution is one of the unique challenges of IRS-P6 data processing. The Liss-4 camera is capable of imaging in either multi-spectral or panchromatic modes with steerability up to +/- 27°. As the satellite sweeps longer strips with oblique viewing configuration, data product generation requires an elevation database to accommodate the errors due to terrain topography. SRTM, GTOPO30, DCW etc. are becoming hidden information to product generation schemes. In this paper, we analyze and justify the requirement of inclusion of a global DEM in the product generation system for Liss-4 data. In the first part of the study, after a brief introduction of sensor model, comparison of elevation from SRTM and GTOPO30 is made which leads towards a conclusion that GTOPO30 is adequate for improving the accuracy. The second part deals with the impact of GTOPO30 on geometric accuracy. Thirdly we analyze the terrain effects on band-to-band registration of Liss-4 multispectral data. A perfect band-to-band registration cannot be achieved without inclusion of digital elevation model. Many Liss-4 data sets with different tilts that cover terrain patches with flat, rolling and highly undulating nature are studied and the results reported. [Termes IGN] téléphonie mobileRésumé : (Auteur) In recent years in India, deregulation has opened the telecommunications market up to new arenas putting pressure on existing organizations to become more efficient. New technologies such as fibre optic cables, efficient terrestrial broadcasting and satellites are offering greatly increased bandwidth. However, the ever-increasing demand to provide low-cost and large area coverage with high reception quality has forced these industries to explore advanced optimization strategies for their network planning. The telecommunications companies have begun to recognize that many of their work practices have spatial elements and data can be used more efficiently. In the present study, a planning strategy for establishing a network of towers for the purpose of mobile communications using remote sensing and raster GIS is demonstrated. In particular, this study addresses how to develop a surface model using IRS-1C PAN stereo pair. This information derived from the satellite data was integrated with raster GIS GRID modelling. The study clearly demonstrates that the IRS data could be utilized for planning a suitable network of towers for telecom applications.
