Most commercial high-resolution satellites such as SPOT-5, Ikonos-2, and QuickBird use similar sensors. Airborne sensors such as the ADS40 and STARIMAGER® also use the push-broom approach to collect multi-channel, seamless image strips for linear objects such as roads, railways, rivers, seashores, electric power lines, pipe lines, and high-rise building areas. Other commercial hyperspectral sensors also use the push-broom approach to collect digital images for remote sensing applications.
High performance linear cameras require high resolution geometric, spectral, and radiometric calibration. This topic has not been covered in the scientific literature. Although the self-calibration is successful to compute the calibration parameters of frame camera, it is denied in our tests since the linear camera’s calibrated parameters are dependent on the accuracy of on-board GPS/IMU position and attitude data. In this paper, a rigorous calibration method is presented. This approach has been successfully used in our developed airborne three-line scanner (TLS) imaging system STARIMAGER® in the last five years. The method can accurately compute TLS’s focal length, principle point location, lens distortion, CCD pixel size, CCD curve deformation, and convergence angles between each CCD line sensor on the focal plane. Without any modification, it can be directly applied to single linear sensors and multi-linear sensors. However, the gap between low-level unsupervised extracted features in content-based retrieval and the high-level semantic concepts of user queries limits the performance. Therefore, this paper proposes a specialized approach using a context-sensitive Bayesian network for semantic inference of segmented scenes. The regions' remote sensing related semantic concepts are inferred in a multistage process based on their spectral and textural characteristics as well as the semantics of adjacent regions. During the actual retrieval, the semantics are employed for the extraction of candidate scenes which are evaluated and ranked in a consecutive step. The approach was implemented and compared with a different strategy that utilizes the extracted features from the imagery directly to infer the semantics. In summary, the developed system achieved higher precision and recall rates using the same training data Copyright IEEE Numéro de notice : A2007-219 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : GEOMATIQUE/INFORMATIQUE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1109/TGRS.2007.892008 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1109/TGRS.2007.892008 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=28582

[Vedettes matières IGN] AltimétrieRésumé : (Auteur) The ERS-1, ERS-2 and Envisat series of satellite altimeters provide the only extensive datasets that could conceivably be usedto constrain ocean tide models in high latitudes. Their sun-synchronous sampling, however, severely limits theobservations of solar tides, especially the principal semidiurnal S2 constituent. The Munk–Cartwright response method is anatural choice when attempting to analyze sun-synchronous data. The present study examines various ways a response analysis might be implemented to extract tides from ERS data. Admittances expressed as simple linear or constant functions of frequency cansometimes improve estimates over standard parameterizations, especially if done in conjunction with a reasonably accurate priorsolution. Some form of regularization, such as ridge regression, is also shown to improve the estimates. The approach provesbeneficial in a test for the southern Indian Ocean tides. It offers some promise for regions otherwise void of usefulobservations. [Termes IGN] image Terra-MISRRésumé : (Auteur) The Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) data products now include a scene classification for each 1.1-km pixel that was developed using Support Vector Machines (SVMs), a cutting-edge machine learning technique for supervised classification. Using a combination of spectral, angular, and texture features, each pixel is classified as land, water, cloud, aerosol, or snow/ice, with the aerosol class further divided into smoke, dust, and other aerosols. The classifier was trained by MISR scientists who labeled hundreds of scenes using a custom interactive tool that showed them the results of the training in real time, making the process significantly faster. Preliminary validation shows that the accuracy of the classifier is approximately 81% globally at the 1.1-km pixel level. Applications of this classifier include global studies of cloud and aerosol distribution, as well as data mining applications such as searching for smoke plumes. This is one of the largest and most ambitious operational uses of machine learning techniques for a remote-sensing instrument, and the success of this system will hopefully lead to further use of this approach.
