[Termes IGN] traitement d'imageIndex. décimale : THESE Thèses et HDR Résumé : (Auteur) Mesurer le relief de la planète à partir d'images satellitaires, telle est la possibilité offerte par SPOT depuis 1986. En schématisant, SPOT est un appareil photographique placé en orbite, muni d'un puissant téléobjectif que l'on peut orienter vers la terre dans la direction de la zone à photographier. Pratiquement, cette capacité est obtenue au moyen d'un miroir orientable qui permet au satellite SPOT de regarder soit vers l'Est, soit vers l'Ouest, tout en se déplaçant sur son orbite qui joint les deux pôles. Ainsi, grace à sa visée latérale, SPOT peut observer une même région sous deux angles différents et créer un couple stéréoscopique d'images numériques, dont le traitement informatique permet la restitution du relief.
L'ensemble des techniques employées pour mesurer des altitudes à partir de deux images relève de la photogrammétrie. On y utilise des méthodes provenant de nombreux domaines appliqués, les plus récents étant la mécanique spatiale et le traitement d'image.
A l'origine, le but de l'étude était l'extraction du relief pour l'analyse des linéaments visibles sur les images de télédétection en particulier pour la mise en évidence de failles en géologie structurale. Uanalyse a rapidement évolué, plaçant la précision au centre des préocupations. Si cette précision est in-fine dimensionnée par la mise en correspondance du traitement d'image, l'étudier nécessite de comparer les données calculées à des données topographiques et par conséquent la maitrise d'un ensemble de techniques dans les domaines du traitement d'image, de la géométrie, de l'optimisation et de la cartographie.
Dans chacun de ces domaines une solution originale est développée guidée par le souci de rendre chaque sousproblème totalement indépendant des autres, rendant ainsi possibles les évolutions futures sans remettre en cause l'ensemble de l'architecture de traitement.
La première partie est consacrée au traitement d'image, en particulier à la mise en correspondance de deux images d'un couple stéréoscopique. Après avoir précisé le problème à résoudre, deux algorithmes sont présentés, le premier est fondé sur une analyse hiérarchique des contours de l'image, le second sur une technique de corrélation de fenêtres. Ces deux algorithmes utilisés de façon successive permettent d'obtenir des résultats robustes et précis à partir de couples & images SPOT.
On traite ensuite la modélisation paramétrique des images du capteur SPOT. Une méthodologie est tout d'abord développée sur un exemple issu de la photographie aérienne et appliquée à SPOT. Cette approche a été nécessaire compte tenu de la relative complexité du processus d'acquisition des images, Elle nécessite la modélisation mathématique du phénomène physique de la prise de vue et évite toute manipulation d'équations algébriques de même que toute approximation du modèle par des développements limités par exemple. De plus l'utilisation d'un outil de calcul formel permet de placer l'implémentation à un niveau abstrait, proche du modèle mathématique assurant la conformité des calculs avec le modèle présenté.
La troisième partie décrit une méthode de restitution du Modèle Numérique de Terrain à partir de la carte de disparité et de deux fonctions de modélisation, une pour chaque image du couple. Cette restitution est obtenue au moyen d'un algorithme de gradient, indépendante du capteur et des systèmes de coordonnées utilisés.
Un chapitre est consacré à l'étude de la précision du MNT. Tout d'abord sur le plan géométrique, on étudie l'influence du nombre et de la répartition des points d'appui pour caler une scène SPOT. On détermine ensuite la précision du processus de ndse en correspondance. Enfin, quelques exemples de MNT et d'Orthoimages sont présentés.
