[Termes IGN] transmission de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) This paper addresses the problem of semi-supervised transfer learning with limited cross-modality data in remote sensing. A large amount of multi-modal earth observation images, such as multispectral imagery (MSI) or synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data, are openly available on a global scale, enabling parsing global urban scenes through remote sensing imagery. However, their ability in identifying materials (pixel-wise classification) remains limited, due to the noisy collection environment and poor discriminative information as well as limited number of well-annotated training images. To this end, we propose a novel cross-modal deep-learning framework, called X-ModalNet, with three well-designed modules: self-adversarial module, interactive learning module, and label propagation module, by learning to transfer more discriminative information from a small-scale hyperspectral image (HSI) into the classification task using a large-scale MSI or SAR data. Significantly, X-ModalNet generalizes well, owing to propagating labels on an updatable graph constructed by high-level features on the top of the network, yielding semi-supervised cross-modality learning. We evaluate X-ModalNet on two multi-modal remote sensing datasets (HSI-MSI and HSI-SAR) and achieve a significant improvement in comparison with several state-of-the-art methods. [Termes IGN] surface cultivéeRésumé : (auteur) SVM and RF are widely used in rice mapping. However, their performance with single and different combinations of satellite datasets is rarely reported. Hence we report their rice mapping accuracies for two seasons using Sentinel-1A, Landsat-8 and Sentinel-2A images. The VH and VV polarizations of Sentinel-1A, and two spectral indices (SIs) of Landsat-8 and Sentine1-2A were used to obtain seven datasets (VH, VV, SI, VHVV, VHSI, VVSI and VHVVSI), and on which SVM and RF were applied and accuracies were assessed. VHSI showed the highest overall accuracy for both algorithms in both years. SVM with VHSI had a slightly higher accuracy (90.8%) than RF with VHSI (89.2%) in 2015 while in 2016 RF with VHSI showed a slightly higher accuracy (95.2%) than SVM with VHSI (93.4%). Although they produced equivalent accuracies within years, RF is more sensitive to additional data, given a 6.0% increase from 2015 to 2016 with VHSI. [Termes IGN] segmentation sémantiqueRésumé : (auteur) Needs for fine-grained, accurate and up-to-date land cover (LC) data are important to answer both societal and scientific purposes. Several automatic products have already been proposed, but are mostly generated out of satellite sensors like Sentinel-2 (S2) or Landsat. Metric sensors, e.g. SPOT-6/7, have been less considered, while they enable (at least annual) acquisitions at country scale and can now be efficiently processed thanks to deep learning (DL) approaches. This study thus aimed at assessing whether such sensor can improve such land cover products. A custom simple yet effective U-net - Deconv-Net inspired DL architecture is developed and applied to SPOT-6/7 and S2 for different LC nomenclatures, aiming at comparing the relevance of their spatial/spectral configurations and investigating their complementarity. The proposed DL architecture is then extended to data fusion and applied to previous sensors. At the end, the proposed fusion framework is used to enrich an existing S2 based LC product, as it is generic enough to cope with fusion at distinct levels. [Termes IGN] séquence d'imagesRésumé : (auteur) In 2019, four strong earthquakes of Mw>6.4 occurred successively in Mindanao, Philippines. Based on the reports from the USGS and PHIVOLCS, these earthquakes were dominated by strike-slip ruptures. Whether these earthquakes are temporally and spatially related remained unknown. We characterized the coseismic displacement fields during the earthquake sequence using an InSAR technique with Sentinel-1 SAR data. The InSAR deformation measurements convincingly reveal that the four earthquakes produced distinct coseismic displacement patterns. We estimated the source parameters of the earthquakes with a two-step inversion strategy. The optimal model suggests that the earthquake sequence resulted from the reactivation of a conjugate fault structure that involves two nearly vertical left-lateral strike-slip faults and two high-angle right-lateral strike-slip faults. We calculated Coulomb stress changes from the earthquake sequence, suggesting that the previous strong earthquakes had significant stress-encouraging effects on the following events. The regional velocities based on the GPS analysis suggest that the formation of this conjugate structure is mainly due to the westward movement of the subducting Philippine Sea Plate. This earthquake sequence provides a seismotectonic background for subsequent strong earthquakes and helps to better understand the formation mechanisms and seismotectonic implications of conjugate structure rupturing.
