[Termes IGN] représentation des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Superresolution mapping (SRM) is a technique for generating a fine-spatial-resolution land cover map from coarse-spatial-resolution fraction images estimated by soft classification. The prior model used to describe the fine-spatial-resolution land cover pattern is a key issue in SRM. Here, a novel learning-based SRM algorithm, whose prior model is learned from other available fine-spatial-resolution land cover maps, is proposed. The approach is based on the assumption that the spatial arrangement of the land cover components for mixed pixel patches with similar fractions is often similar. The proposed SRM algorithm produces a learning database that includes a large number of patch pairs for which there is a fine- and coarse-spatial-resolution representation for the same area. From the learning database, patch pairs that have similar coarse-spatial-resolution patches as those in the input fraction images are selected. Fine-spatial-resolution patches in these selected patch pairs are then used to estimate the latent fine-spatial-resolution land cover map by solving an optimization problem. The approach is illustrated by comparison against state-of-the-art SRM methods using land cover map subsets generated from the USA's National Land Cover Database. Results show that the proposed SRM algorithm better maintains the spatial pattern of land covers for a range of different landscapes. The proposed SRM algorithm has the highest overall accuracy and kappa values in all of these SRM algorithms, by using the entire maps in the accuracy assessment. [Termes IGN] seuillage d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) In Europe, water levels in wetlands are widely controlled by environmental managers and farmers. However, the influence of these management practices on hydrodynamics and biodiversity remains poorly understood. This study assesses advantages of using radar data from the recently launched Sentinel-1A satellite to monitor hydrological dynamics of the Poitevin marshland in western France. We analyze a time series of 14 radar images acquired in VV and HV polarizations from December 2014 to May 2015 with a 12-day time step. Both polarizations are used with a hysteresis thresholding algorithm which uses both spatial and temporal information to distinguish open water, flooded vegetation and non-flooded grassland. Classification results are compared to in situ piezometric measurements combined with a Digital Terrain Model derived from LiDAR data. Results reveal that open water is successfully detected, whereas flooded grasslands with emergent vegetation and fine-grained patterns are detected with moderate accuracy. Five hydrological regimes are derived from the flood duration and mapped. Analysis of time steps in the time series shows that decreased temporal repetitivity induces significant differences in estimates of flood duration. These results illustrate the great potential to monitor variations in seasonal floods with the high temporal frequency of Sentinel-1A acquisitions. WorldView-2 imagery was progressively resampled to coarser spatial resolutions. At a compartment level, 30 × 30-m subsets were generated across forest compartments to represent the five forest subspecies investigated in this study. From the centre of each subset, the spatial resolution of the original WorldView-2 image was resampled from 6 to 34-m, with increments of 4-m. The variance was then calculated at every resampled spatial resolution using each of the eight WorldView-2 bands. Based on the sampling theorem, the 3-m spatial resolution provided an appropriate resolution for all subspecies investigated. The WorldView-2 image was subsequently classified using the partial least squares linear discriminant analysis algorithm and the appropriate spatial resolution. An overall classification accuracy of 90% was established with an allocation disagreement of 9 and a quantity disagreement of 1. Remote sensing and image processing communities are working on different pan-sharpening methods capable of taking advantage of MS and Pan images. Each remote sensing system has its own advantages and disadvantages, leading to the question ‘Which pan-sharpening method should be used for which type of imagery?’ The aim of this research is to investigate the pan-sharpening performance of PLÉIADES-1A images. For this purpose, pan-sharpened images were generated using PCA, IHS and Brovey Transform which are the most popular pan-sharpening methods. Then, the pan-sharpened images were evaluated quantitatively using Correlation Coefficient, Root Mean Square Error, Relative Average Spectral Error, Spectral Angle Mapper and Erreur Relative Globale Adimensionnelle de Synthése. In addition, pan-sharpened images were evaluated qualitatively by taking object availability and completeness into consideration.
