[Termes IGN] résolution multipleRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, the authors investigate the statistical matching of the panchromatic (Pan) image to the multispectral (MS) bands, also known as the histogram matching, for the two main classes of pansharpening methods, i.e., those based on component substitution (CS) or spectral methods and those based on multiresolution analysis (MRA) or spatial methods. Also, hybrid methods combining CS with MRA, like the widespread additive wavelet luminance proportional (AWLP), are investigated. It is shown that all spectral, spatial, and hybrid methods must perform a dynamics matching of the enhancing Pan to the individual MS bands for MRA or a combination of them (the component that shall be substituted) for CS. For hybrid methods, the problem is more complex and both types of histogram matching may be suitable. Such an intersensor balance may be either explicit or implicitly performed by the detail-injection model, e.g., the popular projective and multiplicative injection models. An experimental setup exploiting IKONOS and WorldView-2 data sets demonstrates that a correct histogram matching is the key to attain extra performance from established methods. As a first result of this paper, the AWLP method has been revisited and its performance significantly improved by simply performing the histogram matching of Pan to the individual MS bands, rather than to the intensity component, thereby losing the original proportionality feature. [Termes IGN] réseau neuronal convolutifRésumé : (Auteur) Feature extraction is of significance for hyperspectral image (HSI) classification. Compared with conventional hand-crafted feature extraction, deep learning can automatically learn features with discriminative information. However, two issues exist in applying deep learning to HSIs. One issue is how to jointly extract spectral features and spatial features, and the other one is how to train the deep model when training samples are scarce. In this paper, a deep convolutional neural network with two-branch architecture is proposed to extract the joint spectral-spatial features from HSIs. The two branches of the proposed network are devoted to features from the spectral domain as well as the spatial domain. The learned spectral features and spatial features are then concatenated and fed to fully connected layers to extract the joint spectral-spatial features for classification. When the training samples are limited, we investigate the transfer learning to improve the performance. Low and mid-layers of the network are pretrained and transferred from other data sources; only top layers are trained with limited training samples extracted from the target scene. Experiments on Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer and Reflective Optics System Imaging Spectrometer data demonstrate that the learned deep joint spectral-spatial features are discriminative, and competitive classification results can be achieved when compared with state-of-the-art methods. The experiments also reveal that the transferred features boost the classification performance. [Termes IGN] réseau neuronal convolutifRésumé : (Auteur) Convolutional neural network (CNN) is well known for its capability of feature learning and has made revolutionary achievements in many applications, such as scene recognition and target detection. In this paper, its capability of feature learning in hyperspectral images is explored by constructing a five-layer CNN for classification (C-CNN). The proposed C-CNN is constructed by including recent advances in deep learning area, such as batch normalization, dropout, and parametric rectified linear unit (PReLU) activation function. In addition, both spatial context and spectral information are elegantly integrated into the C-CNN such that spatial-spectral features are learned for hyperspectral images. A companion feature-learning CNN (FL-CNN) is constructed by extracting fully connected feature layers in this C-CNN. Both supervised and unsupervised modes are designed for the proposed FL-CNN to learn sensor-specific spatial-spectral features. Extensive experimental results on four benchmark data sets from two well-known hyperspectral sensors, namely airborne visible/infrared imaging spectrometer (AVIRIS) and reflective optics system imaging spectrometer (ROSIS) sensors, demonstrate that our proposed C-CNN outperforms the state-of-the-art CNN-based classification methods, and its corresponding FL-CNN is very effective to extract sensor-specific spatial-spectral features for hyperspectral application Numéro de notice : A2017-499 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1109/TGRS.2017.2693346 En ligne : http://dx.doi.org/10.1109/TGRS.2017.2693346 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=86441

[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) The application of remote sensing (RS) techniques to monitor ecosystem services has increased in recent years. Nevertheless, the potential application of RS to monitor some of ecosystem services is still challenging. The paper reviews the applications of RS to monitor ecosystem services of forests, mangroves and urban areas. Satellite data provide substantial information about dynamics of environmental changes over time from local to global scale. These information are useful data sources for the people who are involved in the on-going evaluation and decision-making process to manage ecosystem. Many recent research papers on the topic were reviewed to find new applications and limitations of RS for monitoring ecosystem services. Advanced RS techniques have high potential to monitor ecosystem services with the advancement of sensors ranging from aerial photography to high and medium resolution optical RS and from hyperspectral RS to microwave RS. [Termes IGN] structure de données localiséesRésumé : (Auteur) Mapping structural changes in vegetation dynamics has, for a long time, been carried out using satellite images, orthophotos and, more recently, airborne lidar acquisitions. Lidar has established its position as providing accurate material for structure-based analyses but its limited availability, relatively short history, and lack of spectral information, however, are generally impeding the use of lidar data for change detection purposes. A potential solution in respect of detecting both contemporary vegetation structures and their previous trajectories is to combine lidar acquisitions with optical remote sensing data, which can substantially extend the coverage, span and spectral range needed for vegetation mapping. In this study, we tested the simultaneous use of a single low-density lidar data set, a series of Landsat satellite frames and two high-resolution orthophotos to detect vegetation succession related to grassland overgrowth, i.e. encroachment of woody plants into semi-natural grasslands. We built several alternative Random Forest models with different sets of variables and tested the applicability of respective data sources for change detection purposes, aiming at distinguishing unchanged grassland and woodland areas from overgrown grasslands. Our results show that while lidar alone provides a solid basis for indicating structural differences between grassland and woodland vegetation, and orthophoto-generated variables alone are better in detecting successional changes, their combination works considerably better than its respective parts. More specifically, a model combining all the used data sets reduces the total error from 17.0% to 11.0% and omission error of detecting overgrown grasslands from 56.9% to 31.2%, when compared to model constructed solely based on lidar data. This pinpoints the efficiency of the approach where lidar-generated structural metrics are combined with optical and multitemporal observations, providing a workable framework to identify structurally oriented and dynamically organized landscape phenomena, such as grassland overgrowth.
