[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (auteur) Most of the feature selection (FS) methods in the literature determine features that are appropriate only for a given dataset. In contrast, in this paper a FS method that is not dependent to a specific dataset is proposed. In this regard, the effective feature types based on reasonable facts are predefined and appropriate candidate features for each feature type are selected. In proposed method, the features selected from a single labeled image can be used in segmentation of images captured by different satellites with similar spatial resolution. The selected feature types contain spatial and spectral features. The selected features are applied for segmentation of the images captured by QuickBird and GeoEye satellites and obtained results of proposed method are compared with well-known FS methods. Using different evaluation measures, our comparison shows the efficiency of the proposed method in providing better segmentation compared to other FS methods that are presented in this paper. [Termes IGN] urbanisationRésumé : (Auteur) This study developed an impervious surface fraction algorithm (ISFA) for automatic mapping of urban areas from Landsat data. We processed the data for 2001 and 2014 to trace the urbanization of Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras, using a four-step procedure: (1) data pre-processing to perform image reflectance normalization, (2) quantification of impervious surface area (ISA) using ISFA, (3) accuracy assessment of mapping results and (4) change analysis of urban growth. The mapping results compared with the ground reference data confirmed the validity of ISFA for automatic delineation of ISA in the study region. The overall accuracy and Kappa coefficient achieved for 2001 were 92.8% and 0.86, while the values for 2014 were 91.8% and 0.84, respectively. The results of change detection between the classification maps indicated that ISA increased approximately 1956.7 ha from 2001 to 2014, mainly attributing to the increase of the city’s population. [Termes IGN] orientationRésumé : (Auteur) Attitude models play a prominent role in the geometric processing of high-resolution satellite imagery (HRSI). Because of the high accuracy of the matching algorithm, attitude oscillations can occur in HRSI. Various methods for correcting this attitude oscillation with parallax observations have been proposed. However, few researchers have attempted to model the oscillation from the attitude records or have taken noise into consideration. In this paper, a penalized spline-based attitude model is proposed, which can model the oscillation with piecewise and continuously differentiable polynomials and smooth out the attitude noise with a penalty function. The balance between the fitting accuracy and noise smoothing is controlled by a penalty parameter, which is estimated by generalized cross-validation. Given that the attitude error introduces distortions into sensor-corrected images, the band-to-band registration of multispectral images is used to validate the attitude model. Five multispectral data sets captured by ZiYuan-3 are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Compared with third-degree polynomials and cubic spline interpolation, the penalized spline model delivers the best performance by limiting the misregistration caused by the attitude model to within 0.1 pixels. [Termes IGN] qualité des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Pansharpening is the process of fusing a high-resolution panchromatic image and a low-spatial-resolution multispectral image to yield a high-spatial-resolution multispectral image. This is a typical ill-posed inverse problem, and in the past two decades, many methods have been proposed to solve it. Still, there is no general consensus on the best way to quantitatively evaluate the spectral and spatial quality of the fused image. In this paper, we compare the two most widely used and accepted methods for quality evaluation. The first method is the verification of the synthesis property which states that the fused image should be as identical as possible to the multispectral image that the sensor would observe at a higher resolution. This is impossible to verify unless the observed images are spatially degraded so that the original observed multispectral image can be used as reference. The second method is to use metrics that do not use a reference, such as the quality no reference (QNR) metrics. However, there is another property, i.e., the consistency property, which states that the fused image reduced to the resolution of the original multispectral image should be as identical to the original image as possible. This has generally been considered a necessary condition that does not have to imply correct fusion. Using real WorldView-2 and QuickBird data and a total of 18 component substitution and multiresolution analysis methods, we demonstrate that the consistency property can indeed be used to give reliable assessment of the relative performance of pansharpening methods and is superior to using the QNR metrics. [Termes IGN] surveillance agricoleRésumé : (Auteur) In this study, temporal MODIS-Terra MOD13Q1 data have been used for identification of wheat crop uniquely, using the noise clustering (NC) soft classification approach. This research also optimises the selection of date combination and vegetation index for classification of wheat crop. First, a separability analysis is used to optimise the date combination for each case of number of dates and vegetation index. Then, these scenes have undergone for NC soft classification. The resolution parameter (δ) was optimised for the NC classifier and found to be a value of 1.6 × 104 for wheat crop identification. Classified outputs were analysed by receiver operating characteristics (ROC) analysis for sub-pixel detection. Highest area under the ROC curve was found for soil-adjusted vegetation index corresponding to the three different phenological stages data sets. From this study, the data sets corresponding to the Sowing, Flowering and Maturity phenological stages of wheat crop were found more suitable to identify it uniquely.
