[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The automatic interpretation of aerial and satellites images is one of the main important research topics in photogrammetry and images analysis. The aim of the interpretation is the recognition or verification of objects in images. The quality of the interpretation results depends among other factors on the information content of the input data. The more information in the input data the easier is the interpretation process. In this paper an approach is described that increases the quality of the interpretation process by using existing GIS data as prior information on the one hand and by combining multispectral and LIDAR data on the other hand. The approach is used fo automatic change detection and is based on the evaluation of automatically derived training data sets from existing GIS data. For that reason no data dependent tuning factors have to be defined and no human interaction is necessary. A pair of Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) scenes over coincident multitemporal National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) time-series of directional hemispherical reflectance were used to develop a fine-scale land cover map using either eight or three categories and to estimate the endmembers of the AVHRR image using a positive constrained linear least-squares method. Furthermore, three approaches were evaluated for compositing sub-pixel estimates over cloudy areas in the AVHRR image. Finally, from validation tests made for unmixing and compositing methods, the results suggest that these methods may be generally useful for comparing multispectral images in space and time. [Termes IGN] modèle mathématiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Generic sensor models (GSMs) are comprehensive mathematical models by which different geometric structures of satellite images could be modeled in order to establish the connection between image and object spaces. Nevertheless, as they are mathematical models, rather than physical models, it is difficult to determine which term and order of GSMs can provide the best result. Therefore, conventional solutions need an expert operator to try different terms and orders for the best solution of GSMs or to find the best trade-off, which is a complex and time consuming process. Moreover, conventional solutions for automatic determination of the optimum GSM parameters are not practically efficient and instead of going towards the global optimum, frequently get trapped in some local optima. In this paper, we propose a novel methodology which automatically determines the optimum GSM's terms and orders based on genetic algorithm concepts. Extensive evaluations carried out on a wide range of different optical satellite images demonstrate the high potentials of the proposed strategy. [Termes IGN] résolution multipleRésumé : (Auteur) Several earth observation satellites acquire image bands with different spatial resolutions, e.g., a panchromatic band with high resolution and spectral bands with lower resolution. Likewise, we often face the problem of different resolutions when performing joint analysis of images acquired by different satellites. This paper presents models and methods for classification of multiresolution images. The approach is based on the concept of a reference resolution, corresponding to the highest resolution in the dataset Prior knowledge about the spatial characteristics of the classes is specified through a Markov random field model at the reference resolution. Data at coarser scales are modeled as mixed pixels by relating the observations to the classes at the reference resolution. A Bayesian framework for classification based on this multiscale model is proposed. The classification is realized by an iterative conditional modes (ICM) algorithm. The parameter estimation can be based both on a training set and on pixels with unknown class. A computationally efficient scheme based on a combination of the ICM and the expectation-maximization algorithm is proposed. Result obtained on simulated and real satellite images are presented.
