[Termes IGN] sécheresseRésumé : (Auteur) In this work, we combine spatial data from a Digital Forest Map of Spain, the Second National Forest Inventory and TM images to explore the differences in the spectral response of several vegetation types in three years with strong differences in water availability. The results point to the possibility of discrimination between dry and humid years based on the NDVI, although drought conditions affect in different ways to the several vegetation types. [Termes IGN] VénézuelaRésumé : (Auteur) This paper describes progress in the development of a landslide susceptibility model which is based on slope stability equations. Using a test area in the Venezuelan Andes, we show how model inputs can be derived from suitably pre-processed Landsat TM data and maps of the area. Pre-processing steps include geometric and terrain corrections. A combination of unsupervised and supervised classification algorithms is applied to the corrected TM data to derive a land cover map. The paper concludes with a summary of future research activity. [Termes IGN] teneur en eau de la végétationRésumé : (Auteur) Fuel Moisture Content (FMC) for Mediterranean species was measured and correlated with laboratory radiometry, NOAA-AVHRR and Landsat-TM images. The best variable related to FMC was the quotient between the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index and Surface Temperature (NDVI/ST). Two other indices derived from Landsat's SWIR bands also showed good correlation. Two multiple regression equations to derive a synthetic FMC for grassland and shrubs are presented, with r values of 0.61. [Termes IGN] SicileRésumé : (Auteur) Comparing images in the visible bands with maps from Istituto Geografico Militare Italiano, it was possible to localise many changes in the shape of the coastline of southern Sicily, Italy, from Porto Empedocle to Capo Passero, on the Italian side of the Malta Channel due to erosion and deposits. It was possible, also, to understand the effects of shore protection structures on coastline changes and on the ports development from a large scale point-of-view. Since behind the study area, along the coast, the land is very sensitive to rain erosion, significant images were selected, among many others, showing the effects of meteorological events on the sea. In particular, images showing the effects of rivers silt flooding along the coast were processed, in order to obtain information on the changes of the distribution in the above mentioned parameters in the sea water. From the analysis of these images, much useful information on the coastal areas sensitive to deposit and erosion was acquired.
