[Termes IGN] vulnérabilitéRésumé : (auteur) Urban flood risk management requires an extensive investigation of the vulnerability characteristics of buildings. Large-scale field surveys usually cost a lot of time and money, while satellite remote sensing and street view images can provide information on the tops and facades of buildings respectively. Thereupon, this paper develops a building vulnerability assessment framework using remote sensing and street view features. Specifically, a UNet-based semantic segmentation model, FSA-UNet (Fusion-Self-Attention-UNet) is proposed to integrate remote sensing and street view features and the vulnerability information contained in the images is fully exploited. And the building vulnerability index is generated to provide the spatial distribution characteristics of urban building vulnerability. The experiment shows that the mIoU of the proposed model can reach 82% for building vulnerability classification in Hefei, China, which is more accurate than the traditional semantic segmentation models. The results indicate that the integration of street view and remote sensing image features can improve the ability of building vulnerability assessment, and the model proposed in this study can better capture the correlation features of multi-angle images through the self-attention mechanism and combines hierarchy features and edge information to improve the classification effect. This study can support for disaster management and urban planning. [Termes IGN] satellite militaireRésumé : (Auteur) My two previous overview articles on high-resolution imagery from space were published in the March 2001 and September 2002 issues of Geoinformafics. These were concerned mainly with the commercial providers of such imagery - since the vast majority of the readers of the magazine (and users in general) do not have access to the high-resolution imagery obtained from military reconnaissance satellites. However it has been apparent for some time that the largest consumers of high-resolution space imagery worldwide are those government agencies involved in intelligence gathering and in mapping for military purposes. Within this particular context, the commercial space imagery supplements the imagery gathered by dedicated reconnaissance satellites. At the recent ISPRS Workshop on "High Resolution Mapping from Space" held between 6th and 8th October 2003 at the University of Hannover, I was invited to present an overview on current developments and future trends in imaging and mapping from space covering the high-resolution imagery acquired from both commercial and military satellites. The present article is based on this presentation. Because of its length, the article has been divided into three main parts - concerned with developments in North America, Asia and Europe respectively. For the purposes of this overview, high-resolution imagery has been defined as that having a ground sampled distance (SD) or ground pixel size of 5m or smaller. [Termes IGN] QuickbirdRésumé : (Auteur) As discussed in my article on imagers published in the april/may 2000 issue of Geoinformatics, over the last two or three years, the previous rather simple distinction between (i) analogue film cameras producing very high-resolution frame images from aiborne platforms ; and (ii) digital line scanners producing continuous strips of linescan imagery of markedly lower resolution from spaceborne platforms, is being replaced by a much more complex scenario. This is based on the very varied mixtures of technologies, geometries and platforms that are now becoming available through the introduction of the new types of digital imagers capable of being operated both from airborne and spaceborne platforms. [Termes IGN] SPOTRésumé : (Auteur) The last weeks of the year 2000 have seen very considerable activity in the area of commercial high-resolution satellites. On november 20th, EarthWatch's QuickBird-1 satellite was launched and failed to go into orbit. On december 5th, the Israeli-backed EROS-A1 satellite was launched successfully. On december 18th, the amirican authorities granted licences to Space Imaging and EarthWatch to construct and operate satellites capable of producing space images with a ground pixel size of half-a-metre. Having, over the last year, visited the three main american companies that are engaged in this area and having seen and heard quite a lot about their activities at first hand, the editors invited me to take a long view and try to give a reasonably coherent and balanced account of what has become a very controversial area.
