[Termes IGN] zone sinistréeRésumé : (auteur) Forest fire burnt area estimation using Normalized Burn Ratio at regional level helps in understanding the pattern of the frequency and severity of forest fires. In this study, burnt area is estimated for all the thirteen districts of Indian state Uttarakhand for last six years from 2016 to 2021 using Sentinel 2A and 2B datasets. The spatial and temporal pattern of the burnt area was analyzed by incorporating different parameters such as meteorological parameters like land surface temperature, rainfall; edaphic parameter like surface soil moisture and vegetation parameters like Normalized Difference Vegetation Index & Enhanced Vegetation Index. The estimated burnt area was statistically analyzed with respect to the parameters stated and the relationship among them was quantified. It was found that burnt area is positively correlated with the land surface temperature, while it showed negative correlation with the pre-fire precipitation, pre-fire NDVI & EVI and the surface soil moisture for 11 out of 13 districts. The district-wise forest fire burnt area assessment and analysis of its spatio-temporal pattern can be used in the preparedness and mitigation planning to prevent drastic ecological impacts of forest fires on the landscape. [Termes IGN] Uttarakhand (Inde ; état)Résumé : (auteur) It is important to identify and locate glacial lakes for assessing any potential hazard. This study presents a combination of semi-automatic method Double-Window Flexible Pace Search (DFPS) and edge detection technique to identify glacial lakes using Sentinel 2A satellite data. Initially, Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) has been used to identify water and non-water areas, while DFPS and Edge detection technique has been used to identify an optimum threshold value to distinguish between water and shadow areas. The optimal threshold from DFPS process is 0.21, while threshold value of gradient magnitude using edge detection process is 0.318. The number of glacial lakes identified using the above algorithm is in close agreement with previously published results on glacial lakes in Gangotri glacier using different techniques. Thus, a combination of DFPS and edge detection process has successfully segregated glacial lakes from other features present in Gangotri glacier. [Termes IGN] Web Processing ServiceRésumé : (auteur) An online spatial biodiversity model (SBM) for optimized and automated spatial modelling and analysis of geospatial data is proposed, which is based on web processing service (WPS) and web service orchestration (WSO) in parallel computing environment. The developed model integrates distributed geospatial data in geoscientific processing workflow to compute the algorithms of spatial landscape indices over the web using free and open source software. A case study for Uttarakhand state of India demonstrates the model outputs such as spatial biodiversity disturbance index (SBDI) and spatial biological richness index (SBRI). In order to optimize and automate, an interactive web interface is developed using participatory GIS approaches for implementing fuzzy AHP. In addition, sensitivity analysis and geosimulation experiments are also performed under distributed GIS environment. Results suggest that parallel algorithms in SBM execute faster than sequential algorithms and validation of SBRI with biological diversity shows significant correlation by indicating high R2 values. [Termes IGN] Uttarakhand (Inde ; état)Résumé : (Auteur) Uttarakhand state, located in northern India, has a total geographic area of 51,125km2. Ninety-three per cent of the state is mountainous whereas 64% is forested area, and the cities of the region has different living standards. The Quality of Life (QOL) is assessed in the state by using remote sensing-derived parameters along with the census data warehouse in geospatial environment. The study develops a methodology to measure the QOL in the state using geospatial techniques. The study addresses use of Landsat MSS satellite imagery to estimate environmental parameters like vegetation fraction, impervious surface fraction and land surface temperature. Census of India details were integrated along with remote sensing data-derived parameters in the GIS environment. Factor analysis was conducted to interpret the input parameters for the assessment of QOL index. In this process, three indices were generated (crowdedness, greenness and economic indices). These indices were further processed to estimate the overall QOL index of Uttarakhand. All types of spatial maps were published in the distributed environment using open source internet GIS technologies.
