[Vedettes matières IGN] CartologieRésumé : (auteur) [début] Tactile maps are an important source of information to communicate spatial knowledge and facilitate the mobility of people with visual impairment (PVIs) (Espinosa et al., 1998). With map representations that correspond well to the important environmental features perceived by the PVIs (Lobben & Lawrence, 2012), potentially enhanced with audio and interactions (Brock et al., 2015), the maps can efficiently assist them to acquire the necessary spatial knowledge for their journey. But the maps are often not available for road crossings, especially complex ones with traffic islands, which are particularly challenging in the journeys of PVIs. Most existing mobility-related automated tactile mapping tools work on the scale of neighborhoods with more emphasis on road networks and building footprints (Minatani et al., 2010; Štampach & Mulíčková, 2016; Touya et al., 2019), and even when it's possible to zoom in to a road crossing level (Červenka et al., 2016), there is little detailed information about the layout of the road crossings regarding e.g. traffic islands or pedestrian crossings that are critical to the execution of a safe cross (Wiener et al., 2010). These road crossing maps are still being hand-made by professionals in a tailored and time-consuming manner. [Termes IGN] tessellationRésumé : (auteur) The traditional approach to mobile phone positioning is based on the assumption that the geographical location of a cell tower recorded in a Call Details Record (CDR) is a proxy for a device's location. A Voronoi tessellation is then constructed based on the entire network of cell towers and this tessellation is considered as a coordinate system, with the device located in a Voronoi polygon of a cell tower that is recorded in the CDR. If Voronoi-based positioning is correct, the uniqueness of the device trajectory is very high, and the device can be identified based on 3–5 of its recorded locations. We investigate a probabilistic approach to device positioning that is based on knowledge of each antennas' parameters and number of connections, as dependent on the distance to the antenna. The critical difference between the Voronoi-based and the real world layout is in the essential overlap of the antennas' service areas: The device that is located in a cell tower's polygon can be served by a more distant antenna that is chosen by the network system to balance the network load. Combining data on the distance distribution of the number of connections available for each antenna in the network, we resolve the overlap problem by applying Bayesian inference and construct a realistic distribution of the device location. Probabilistic device positioning demands a full revision of mobile phone privacy and new full set of tools for data analysis. [Termes IGN] trafic routierRésumé : (Auteur) A common cause of traffic congestions is the concentration of intersecting vehicle routes. It can be difficult to reduce the intersecting routes in existing traffic systems where the routes are decided independently from vehicle to vehicle. The development of connected autonomous vehicles provides the opportunity to address the intersecting route problem as the route of vehicles can be coordinated globally. We prototype a traffic management system for optimizing traffic with connected autonomous vehicles. The system allocates routes to the vehicles based on streaming traffic data. We develop two route assignment algorithms for the system. The algorithms can help to mitigate traffic congestions by reducing intersecting routes. Extensive experiments are conducted to compare the proposed algorithms and two state-of-the-art route assignment algorithms with both synthetic and real road networks in a simulated traffic management system. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithms outperform the competitors in terms of the travel time of the vehicles. [Termes IGN] tenseurRésumé : (auteur) Despite the increasing interest in kinematic data acquisition, Robotic Total Stations (RTSs) are still relatively seldom used. No matter if Mobile Mapping Systems or Control & Guidance, GNSS is mostly used as position sensor, which limits the application to outdoor areas. For indoor applications, a combination of relative sensors is usually employed. One reason why RTSs are not used is the challenging time referencing and synchronization. In this work we analyze the challenges of a synchronized kinematic application of RTSs and present solutions. Our approach is based on a wireless network synchronization to establish a precise temporal reference frame. The achievable synchronization quality is thoroughly examined. In addition we develop a kinematic model of spherical measurements, that incorporates timing related parameters. To estimate these parameters we propose a temporal calibration utilizing an industrial robot. Both parts of our approach are evaluated using a test setup of two total stations, proofing an overall synchronization accuracy of 0.2 ms. An overall horizontal kinematic point accuracy of 2.3 mm reveals the potential of sufficiently synchronized RTSs. [Termes IGN] segmentation sémantiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Schematic maps are simplified representations of line networks, aiming to help people quickly and accurately perform route planning and orientation tasks. The automated generation of such maps is generally treated as an optimization problem. Most researchers prefer to optimize network layouts and name labels separately, because optimizing them simultaneously is still intractable. It is found that optimizing network layouts is extensively studied, while optimizing name labels is rarely considered. In the optimization of name labels, constraints can be established with rules from cartographic experts, literature (e.g., specification and technical documents), and/or existing maps. However, some rules from experts and literature cannot be explicitly and mathematically expressed. This study aims to develop an automated labeling method with rules from existing maps. We first acquire the rules (i.e., the potential positions and the preferences of these positions) from some existing schematic maps and then integrate them into an optimization algorithm. Experimental evaluation is conducted by a questionnaire in terms of “ease level of finding name labels,” “congestion level,” and “satisfaction level” using Tianjin and Hong Kong metro schematic maps and the labels of our method. The results show that the proposed method can automatically generate effective labels.
