[Termes IGN] montagneRésumé : (auteur) Geoid determinations by the Remove-Compute-Restore (R-C-R) technique involves the application of Stokes’ integral on reduced gravity anomalies. Numerical Stokes’ integration produces an error depending on the choice of the integration radius, grid resolution and Stokes’ kernel function.
In this work, we aim to evaluate the accuracy of Stokes’ integral through a study on synthetic gravitational signals derived from EGM2008 on three different landscape areas with respect to the size of the integration domain and the resolution of the anomaly grid. The influence of the integration radius was studied earlier by several authors. Using real data, they found that the choice of relatively small radii (less than 1°) enables to reach an optimal accuracy. We observe a general behaviour coherent with these earlier studies. On the other hand, we notice that increasing the integration radius up to 2° or 2.5° might bring significantly better results. We note that, unlike the smallest radius corresponding to a local minimum of the error curve, the optimal radius in the range 0° to 6° depends on the terrain characteristics. We also find that the high frequencies, from degree 600, improve continuously with the integration radius in both semi-mountainous and mountain areas.
Finally, we note that the relative error of the computed geoid heights depends weakly on the anomaly spherical harmonic degree in the range from degree 200 to 2000. It remains greater than 10 % for any integration radii up to 6°. This result tends to prove that a one centimetre accuracy cannot be reached in semi-mountainous and mountainous regions with the unmodified Stokes’ kernel.Numéro de notice : A2015-391 Affiliation des auteurs : LASTIG LAREG (2012-mi2018) Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1515/jag-2014-0026 En ligne : http://dx.oi.org/10.1515/jag-2014-0026 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=76860

[Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (auteur) Recent and future climate change may lead to landscape changes in geomorphic processes and process rates. Such modifications are likely to be widely distributed, making their direct measurement difficult and there are almost no such measurements at decadal intervals. Aerial imagery has been acquired by many national agencies since the 1950s and significant archives remain. Unlocking the information from these data sources is important because their timescale may inform significant unresolved hypotheses regarding the impact of rapid climate change on Alpine environments. However, such photogrammetric applications are challenging because of topographic complexity (including occlusions and large elevation ranges) and variations in image texture. A complete workflow is described from raw data to the treatment and interpretation of results. This is applied to imagery of Val d'Héréns, Switzerland, a landscape containing an assemblage of glacial, periglacial, hillslope and fluvial landforms across a height range of 1800 to 3600 m from the 1960s to the present. These changes reveal important characteristics of landscape scale erosion and deposition at the decadal scale. [Termes IGN] transfert radiatifRésumé : (Auteur) Despite advances in remote sensing, retrieving surface properties at high resolutions in complex terrain is a major challenge. Slope and aspect as well as the topography surrounding a target impact surface insolation and lead to variability in calculated surface reflectance even for homogeneous land cover. Retrieval of surface reflectance is particularly problematic in case of topographic shading, where the total irradiation at the surface is a combination of diffuse irradiation and terrain-reflected irradiation from nearby slopes. To facilitate the retrieval of surface reflectance from high-resolution optical remote sensing, we have explored the feasibility of using a three dimensional radiative transfer code to simulate gridded surface irradiance for a View the MathML source∼37km2 area in the New Zealand Southern Alps. We have tested the sensitivity of simulated irradiance and calculated surface reflectance both in- and outside shaded areas to atmospheric aerosol content, surface albedo, atmospheric boundary layer structure and different solar spectra. Retrieved surface reflectance has been shown to be highly sensitive to atmospheric aerosols and surface albedo, particularly for areas shaded by topography. Not considering atmospheric aerosols in topographic correction can increase derived surface reflectance by well over 50%, while terrain-reflected irradiance can contribute 40% to surface reflectance in shaded areas, even for wider valleys. Both factors should therefore be considered in topographic correction of satellite imagery, even for relatively aerosol-free atmospheres and low surface albedo. Topographic correction for the whole scene was performed with the model settings resulting in the smallest RMSD between surface reflectivity in shaded and unshaded areas of similar land cover. Topographic correction based on 3D radiative transfer simulations has proven to effectively remove topographic effects and almost equalise derived mean reflectance in- and outside shaded areas. While the effective removal of shadows likely requires a higher dynamic range than Landsat’s ETM+ can offer, we suggest further evaluation of this approach in future studies at other sites and with other sensors. Note de contenu : 1. Introduction
