[Termes IGN] réfraction atmosphériqueRésumé : (auteur) In a joint effort, experts from measurement science and space-geodesy develop instrumentation and methods to further strengthen traceability to the SI definition of the metre for geodetic reference frames (GRF). GRFs are based on space-geodetic observations. Local-tie surveys at co-location sites play an important role for their computation. Novel tools are hence developed for reference point monitoring, but also for local tie vector determination and ground truth provision. This contribution reports on the instrumental approaches and achievements after 24 months project duration and discusses the remaining work in the project. [Termes IGN] vitesseRésumé : (auteur) When surveying through a water surface, a distortion of several centimetres caused by the refraction and the change in the velocity of the electromagnetic waves can be observed. Therefore, neither the position nor the height of an underwater point (object), which can be seen from above the water surface, is correctly measured. The authors want to point out the magnitude of geometric errors when measuring to points under water as well as the computation of correct under water positions of points from measurement through a water layer. A practical experiment was performed for a water depth of 0.16 m. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (auteur) Shallow water bathymetry has proved to be a challenging task for remote sensing applications. In this work, Green-Wavelength Terrestrial Laser Scanning (GWTLS) is employed to survey nearshore bathymetry under clear atmospheric and water conditions. First, the obtained seabed points were corrected for refraction and then geo-registration, and filtering processes were exerted to obtain an accurate bathymetric surface. Terrain analysis was performed with respect to a reference surface derived from classical surveying techniques. The overall analysis has shown that the best results stem from 35° to 50° incident angles, whereas for angles higher than 65° measurements are not acceptable, although for the same angle in front and close to the instrument accuracy is considered acceptable due to the high laser power. Also, high resolution micro-topography, shallower than 1 m water depth, was managed to be captured. Systematic experimental approaches are expected to improve the GWTLS technique to detect bathymetry, which is anticipated to assist in mapping very shallow foreshore, tidal, and deltaic environments, to contribute conceptual into developing hybrid observation systems for coastal monitoring, and also to be applied in various maritime applications. [Termes IGN] temps de propagationRésumé : (auteur) Several studies have recognized that Global Navigation Satellite System Reflectometry (GNSS-R) is subject to atmospheric propagation delays. Unfortunately, there is little information in the peer-reviewed literature about the methods and algorithms involved in correcting for this effect. We have developed an atmospheric ray-tracing procedure to solve rigorously the three-point boundary value problem of ground-based GNSS-R observations. We defined the reflection-minus-direct or interferometric delay in terms of vacuum distance and radio length. We clarified the roles of linear and angular refraction in splitting the total delay in two components, along-path and geometric. We have introduced for the first time two subcomponents of the atmospheric geometric delay, the geometry shift and the geometric excess. We have defined corresponding atmospheric altimetry corrections necessary for unbiased altimetry retrievals. Using simulations, we examined the interferometric atmospheric delay for a range of typical scenarios, where it attained centimeter-level values at low satellite elevation angles ~ 5° for a 10-m high station. We found a linear and exponential dependence on reflector height and satellite elevation angle, respectively. A similar trend was found for the atmospheric altimetry correction, albeit with an amplified meter-level magnitude. The two delay components were similar near the horizon while the angular one vanished at zenith. For the altimetry correction components, both remained non-zero at zenith. We thus quantified the atmospheric bias in GNSS-R sea level retrievals. [Termes IGN] voxelRésumé : (auteur) Using the observations from local and regional GPS networks, the estimation of slant wet delays (SWDs) is possible for each line of sight between satellite and receiver. The observations of SWD are used to model horizontal and vertical variations of the wet refractivity in the atmosphere above the study area. This work is done using the tomography method. In tomography, the horizontal variations of tropospheric wet refractivity are modeled with the polynomial in degree and rank of 2 with latitude and longitude as variables. Also, altitude variations are modeled in the form of discrete layers with constant heights. The main innovation is to estimate the tropospheric parameters for each line of sight by the artificial neural networks (ANNs). The SWD obtained from GPS observations for the different signals at each station is compared with the SWD generated by the ANNs (SWDGPS–SWDANNs). The square of the difference between these two values is introduced as the cost function in the ANNs. To evaluate, we used observations from October 27 to 31, 2011. The availability of GPS and radiosonde data is the main reason for choosing this timeframe. The correlation coefficient, root mean square error (RMSE), and relative error allow for evaluation of the proposed model. The results were also compared with the results of the voxel-based troposphere tomography method. For a more detailed evaluation, four test stations are selected and ANN zenith wet delays (ZWDANN) are compared with the ZWDGPS. Observations of test stations are not used in the modeling step. The correlation coefficient in the testing step for TomoANN and Tomovoxel is 0.9006 and 0.8863, respectively. The mean RMSE at 5 days for TomoANN and Tomovoxel is calculated as 0.63 and 0.71 mm/km, respectively. Also, the average relative error at the four test stations for TomoANN is 15.37% and for Tomovoxel it is 19.69%. The results demonstrate the better capability of the proposed method in the modeling of the tropospheric wet refractivity in the region of Iran.
