As a first step toward a combined solution of both systems, some test computations on real data have been performed. Especially the question of strengthening and improving the classical net by the Doppler measurements is discussed. On the occasion of practical tasks some problems of the triangu-lation by means of passive satellites are discussed. Firstly the general relations between the observed and the computed quanti-ties are given. Then some models already used are introduced. One of these models is enlarged by admitting timing errors. Two possibilities are investigated: Either the timing error is un-known and constant for each station, or it is unknown and con-stant during one pass only. In spite of the fact that the last statement yields values for the unknown coordinates, the resul-ting configuration is too weak, thus the mean square errors of the adjusted coordinates become too large. This difficulty is overcome by a combined model including timing errors and an ad-justment without timing errors. Two numerical examples for this combined solution are given. Since the accuracy of the stations involved in a geometrical adjustment are often varying rather much, some stochastic problems are investigated. Hence it is re-commended to compute weights and unknowns using two different ways .
