[Termes IGN] Time-geographyRésumé : (auteur) The availability of Spatiotemporal Big Data has provided a golden opportunity for time geographical studies that have long been constrained by the lack of individual-level data. However, how to store, manage, and query a huge number of time geographic entities effectively and efficiently with complex spatiotemporal characteristics and relationships poses a significant challenge to contemporary GIS platforms. In this article, a hierarchical compressed linear reference (CLR) model is proposed to transform network-constrained time geographic entities from three-dimensional (3D) (x, y, t) space into two-dimensional (2D) space. Accordingly, time geographic entities can be represented as 2D spatial entities and stored in a classical spatial database. The proposed CLR model supports a hierarchical linear reference system (LRS) including not only underlying a link-based LRS but also multiple higher-level route-based LRSs. In addition, an LRS-based spatiotemporal index structure is developed to index both time geographic entities and the corresponding hierarchical network. The results of computational experiments on large datasets of space–time paths and prisms show that the proposed hierarchical CLR model is effective at storing and managing time geographic entities in road networks. The developed index structure achieves satisfactory query performance in milliseconds on large datasets of time geographic entities. [Termes IGN] image Sentinel-MSIRésumé : (Auteur) Earth observations from the Sentinel-2 mission have been extensively accepted in a variety of land services. The thirteen spectral bands of Sentinel-2, however, are collected at three spatial resolutions of 10/20/60 m, and such a difference brings difficulties to analyze multispectral imagery at a uniform resolution. To address this problem, we developed a hierarchical fusion network (HFN) to sharpen 20/60-m bands and generate Sentinel-2 all-band 10-m data. The deep learning architecture is used to learn the complex mapping between multi-resolution input and output data. Given the deficiency of previous studies in which the spatial information is inferred only from the fine-resolution bands, the proposed hierarchical fusion framework simultaneously leverages the self-similarity information from coarse-resolution bands and the spatial structure information from fine-resolution bands, to enhance the sharpening performance. Technically, the coarse-resolution bands are super-resolved by exploiting the information from themselves and then sharpened by fusing with the fine-resolution bands. Both 20-m and 60-m bands can be sharpened via the developed approach. Experimental results regarding visual comparison and quantitative assessment demonstrate that HFN outperforms the other benchmarking models, including pan-sharpening-based, model-based, geostatistical-based, and other deep-learning-based approaches, showing remarkable performance in reproducing explicit spatial details and maintaining original spectral features. Moreover, the developed model works more effectively than the other models over the heterogeneous landscape, which is usually considered a challenging application scenario. To sum up, the fusion model can sharpen Sentinel-2 20/60-m bands, and the created all-band 10-m data allows image analysis and geoscience applications to be authentically carried out at the 10-m resolution. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Understanding the relationship between mixed land use and urban vibrancy is vital in advanced urban planning applications. This study presents a Bayesian spatially varying coefficient (SVC) model to explore the spatially nonstationary relationship between mixed land use and urban vibrancy after controlling for other factors. We first use the convolutional conditional autoregressive prior to accommodate the ecological bias resulting from unobserved confounders. Then we develop our approach in the case of a single predictor to allow the spatially varying coefficient process. We further introduce a type of the Bayesian SVC model that considers the stratified heterogeneity of the outcome, allowing the coefficients to simultaneously vary at the local and subregion level. We illustrate the proposed model by conducting a case study in Shenzhen using mobile phone data, an officially registered point-of-interest (POI) dataset, and several supplementary datasets. The model evaluation results show that including spatially unstructured and structured component combinations can improve the model's fitness and predictive ability; additionally, considering spatial stratified heterogeneity can further enhance the model's performance. Our findings provide an alternative for measuring the variable local-scale association between mixed-use and urban vibrancy and offer new insights that broaden the fields of environmental science and spatial statistics. [Termes IGN] segmentation sémantiqueRésumé : (auteur) Multiview stereo (MVS) aerial image depth estimation is a research frontier in the remote sensing field. Recent deep learning-based advances in close-range object reconstruction have suggested the great potential of this approach. Meanwhile, the deformation problem and the scale variation issue are also worthy of attention. These characteristics of aerial images limit the applicability of the current methods for aerial image depth estimation. Moreover, there are few available benchmark datasets for aerial image depth estimation. In this regard, this article describes a new benchmark dataset called the LuoJia-MVS dataset ( https://irsip.whu.edu.cn/resources/resources_en_v2.php ), as well as a new deep neural network known as the hierarchical deformable cascade MVS network (HDC-MVSNet). The LuoJia-MVS dataset contains 7972 five-view images with a spatial resolution of 10 cm, pixel-wise depths, and precise camera parameters, and was generated from an accurate digital surface model (DSM) built from thousands of stereo aerial images. In the HDC-MVSNet network, a new full-scale feature pyramid extraction module, a hierarchical set of 3-D convolutional blocks, and “true 3-D” deformable 3-D convolutional layers are specifically designed by considering the aforementioned characteristics of aerial images. Overall and ablation experiments on the WHU and LuoJia-MVS datasets validated the superiority of HDC-MVSNet over the current state-of-the-art MVS depth estimation methods and confirmed that the newly built dataset can provide an effective benchmark. [Termes IGN] traitement de semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Automatic registration of multiple point clouds is a significant preprocessing step for 3D computer vision tasks including semantic segmentation, 3D modelling, change detection, etc. Many methods were proposed to deal with this problem and yet most of them are not fully utilizing the redundant information offered by multiple common overlaps among point clouds. The existing methods are also inefficient when dealing with large-scale point clouds. In this paper, a novel automatic registration framework is presented to align point clouds efficiently and robustly. First, the overall number of scans is grouped into several scan-blocks by a proposed blocking strategy, and we build the pairwise relationship among scans through a fully connected graph in each scan-block. Second, perform loop-based coarse registration in each scan-block using a proposed false matches removal strategy. The proposed strategy can effectively identify grossly wrong scan-to-scan matches. Third, the minimum spanning tree is extracted from the graph, and ICP is applied along its edges. Moreover, the Lu–Milios algorithm is used to further optimize all poses at once by utilizing all redundant information in each scan-block. Finally, global block-to-block registration aligns all scan-blocks into a uniform coordinate reference. We test our framework on challenging WHU-TLS datasets, ETH datasets, and Robotic 3D Scan datasets to evaluate the efficiency, accuracy, as well as robustness. The experiment results show that our method achieves the state-of-the-art accuracy, while the time performance is improved by more than 30% compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms.
