[Termes IGN] Royaume-UniRésumé : (auteur) One of the major challenges facing railway networks is preventing failures in railway tracks. Avoiding potential track malfunctions means inspecting thousands of miles of track, while avoiding risk to inspectors and traffic interference. One innovative inspection methodology is to build a ‘digital railway’ – an accurate and dynamic visualisation tool to identify actual and potential track damage. Relying on the highest-quality data acquisition, a digital railway helps those responsible to make better informed decisions while planning and prioritising rail development, maintenance, repairs and renewal projects. This article outlines the use of such a tool in a UK railway project. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) Medium-format digital cameras are a useful tool in airborne lidar missions to produce digital ortho-images. This study investigates the quality of digital elevation models (DEMs) and digital surface models (DSMs) derived from such cameras. An image-matching strategy is used to produce height information from highly overlapping images and the quality of the derived height information is analysed using synchronous lidar point clouds as the reference data. The evaluation focused on various types of land cover and DEM generation methods. The RMSE between lidar and image-derived height information for two datasets was 0·054% and 0·027% of the flying height in flat, bare-earth areas, but studies with manually edited vegetated areas using stereo photogrammetry revealed high uncertainties, especially in steep terrain. [Termes IGN] logiciel de photogrammétrieRésumé : (Auteur) The use of small and medium format sensor for traditional photogrammetry can present a number of prominent challenges. For these formats, the relatively small image footprint usually leads to a large number of images needing to be processed. Traditionally this fact has limited the use of small and medium format sensors to simple projects of small and unchallenging areas. This paper will describe the use of the Icaros Photogrammetric Suite (IPS2.0 and IPS3.0) through a case study of an extremely difficult project, captured with a small format sensor. [Termes IGN] instrument aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) The growing need for geo-data everywhere is driving customers to demand shorter turnaround rates and higher levels of detail. These needs can be met by aerial imagery directly captured in digital format onboard an aircraft. In tandem with the new product survey on Digital Aerial Cameras (see our website), the author here gives an overview of new developments. [Termes IGN] instrument aéroportéRésumé : (auteur) The report describes digital medium format cameras as professional systems, used for airborne mapping applications. In the last two years, the term "medium format" does not stand for a single camera, equipped with a CCD-chip fitting in the former 6 * 6 cm medium format camera bodies anymore. The newly introduced "medium format" systems from Microsoft and Z/I generate images of nearly the same footprint as the first generation large format cameras. Also multi head medium format systems provide the same footprint of a large format camera system. Therefore a new category has to be introduced: the intermediate systems. Nevertheless the key advantages of medium format systems, compared to large format systems is a lower price and a big plus in terms of flexibility due to low weight and interchangeable lenses. Due to their flexibility medium format system are used for a wide range of applications. Medium format systems are most successful for local projects as well as for oblique imagery. The largest proportion of medium format cameras are used as a sub-system of integrated airborne data acquisition platforms consisting of laser scanners. Nowadays digital medium format camera systems are mature airborne systems with high reliability. With the increasing demand of “near-online” digital aerial data these systems will become even more popular in the future. Note de contenu : 1. INTRODUCTION
