[Termes IGN] primitive géométriqueRésumé : (Auteur) Image matching is a critical process in photogrammetry and remote sensing. Automatic and reliable feature matching using well-distributed points in very high resolution images is a difficult task due to significant relief displacement caused by tall buildings and ground relief. In this paper a robust and efficient image-matching approach is proposed, consisting of two main steps. In the first step, three sets of local features – Harris points, UR-SIFT and MSER – are extracted over the entire image. A SIFT (scale-invariant feature transform) descriptor is then created for each extracted feature, and an initial cross-matching verification is performed using the Euclidean distance between feature descriptors. In the second step, an approach based on k-means clustering is performed to achieve accurate matching without mismatched features, followed by a consistency check using a local affine transformation model for each cluster. The proposed method is successfully applied to matching various aerial and satellite images and the results demonstrate its robustness and capability. [Termes IGN] précision du positionnementRésumé : (Auteur) A simple and feasible orientation method for the three-line cameras of the ZiYuan-3 (ZY-3) satellite is introduced. The method calibrates the CCD-detector look angles in the attitude determination reference (ADR) coordinate system rather than modifying the laboratory-calibrated orientation parameters, which are not necessary for the geometric calibration. Additionally, the unknown parameters of the model are virtually uncorrelated. Experimental results show that the direct georeferencing accuracy of ZY-3 nadir images have been improved from the kilometre level to better than 9 m in planimetry, and that of the forward-and-backward stereopair was also raised to better than 18 m in plan and 4 m in height. After a bundle adjustment using four ground control points, a higher accuracy of about 3·4 m in plan and 1·6 m in height was achieved. [Termes IGN] population animaleRésumé : (Auteur) Close range photogrammetry has increasingly diverse practical application within the biological sciences. Its use in large mammal research for size and/or mass estimation has proven extremely beneficial. Recent photogrammetric technique advancements have improved its applicability in the field, although some analytical components remain time consuming. The use of automated coded targets, associated with commercially available software, was evaluated to simplify photogrammetric analysis without compromising its practicality. The effects of variable target size and shape, lighting conditions, number of photographs, photograph target coverage and project processing time were assessed. Augmenting a published photogrammetric field technique by including coded targets greatly reduced analysis time. The simplified method is attractive for use by a wider range of both specialist and non-specialist users for applications within the animal photogrammetry field. [Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (auteur) Recent and future climate change may lead to landscape changes in geomorphic processes and process rates. Such modifications are likely to be widely distributed, making their direct measurement difficult and there are almost no such measurements at decadal intervals. Aerial imagery has been acquired by many national agencies since the 1950s and significant archives remain. Unlocking the information from these data sources is important because their timescale may inform significant unresolved hypotheses regarding the impact of rapid climate change on Alpine environments. However, such photogrammetric applications are challenging because of topographic complexity (including occlusions and large elevation ranges) and variations in image texture. A complete workflow is described from raw data to the treatment and interpretation of results. This is applied to imagery of Val d'Héréns, Switzerland, a landscape containing an assemblage of glacial, periglacial, hillslope and fluvial landforms across a height range of 1800 to 3600 m from the 1960s to the present. These changes reveal important characteristics of landscape scale erosion and deposition at the decadal scale.
