[Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) Because of the high number of crashes occurring on highways, it is necessary to intensify the search for new tools that help in understanding their causes. This research explores the use of a geographic information system (GIS) for an integrated analysis, taking into account two accident-related factors: design consistency (DC) (based on vehicle speed) and available sight distance (ASD) (based on visibility). Both factors require specific GIS software add-ins, which are explained. Digital terrain models (DTMs), vehicle paths, road centerlines, a speed prediction model, and crash data are integrated in the GIS. The usefulness of this approach has been assessed through a study of more than 500 crashes. From a regularly spaced grid, the terrain (bare ground) has been modeled through a triangulated irregular network (TIN). The length of the roads analyzed is greater than 100 km. Results have shown that DC and ASD could be related to crashes in approximately 4% of cases. In order to illustrate the potential of GIS, two crashes are fully analyzed: a car rollover after running off road on the right side and a rear-end collision of two moving vehicles. Although this procedure uses two software add-ins that are available only for ArcGIS, the study gives a practical demonstration of the suitability of GIS for conducting integrated studies of road safety. [Termes IGN] représentation multipleRésumé : (Auteur) The digital elevation model (DEM) is a significant digital representation of a terrain surface. Although a variety of DEM products are available, they often suffer from problems varying in spatial coverage, data resolution, and accuracy. However, the multi-source DEMs often contain supplementary information, which makes it possible to produce a higher-quality DEM through blending the multi-scale data. Inspired by super-resolution (SR) methods, we propose a regularized framework for the production of high-resolution (HR) DEM data with extended coverage. To deal with the registration error and the horizontal displacement among multi-scale measurements, robust data fidelity with weighted norm is employed to measure the conformance of the reconstructed HR data to the observed data. Furthermore, a slope-based Markov random field (MRF) regularization is used as the spatial regularization. The proposed method can simultaneously handle complex terrain features, noises, and data voids. Using the proposed method, we can reconstruct a seamless DEM data with the highest resolution among the input data, and an extensive spatial coverage. The experiments confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method under different cases. [Termes IGN] villeRésumé : (Auteur) Most pedestrian movement volume models were constructed for urban areas that developed on the basis of pre-modern planning. In this paper, we confront neighborhoods that were built upon modern planning doctrines, combining the functional hierarchy of streets with the neighborhood unit concept, with neighborhoods that developed from pre-modem non-hierarchical street-based planning. We use space syntax analysis to investigate how their street network’s structural attributes interact with pedestrian movement distribution. The investigation was conducted in 14 neighborhoods from 4 cities in Israel by examining the correlation of observed pedestrian volume with models using different axial- and segment-based topological, angular, and metric syntactic attributes across different radii (scales). The results indicate that the street network and the distribution of pedestrian movement interact differently in the two neighborhood types. In pre-modern neighborhoods: (i) there is significantly more walking; (ii) the street network’s syntactic attributes tend to be much more consistent in their correlation with pedestrian volume across all scales; (iii) the correlation of pedestrian volume with these attributes and with commerce is relatively high; and (iv) pedestrian movement distribution is more predictable. We relate these differences to the absence of a self-organized circular causality between street network structure, commerce, and movement in modern planned neighborhoods. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (Auteur) Limited development ecological zones (LDEZs) are often located in poverty-stricken, ecologically vulnerable areas where ethnic minorities reside. Studies on optimal spatial land-use allocation in LDEZs can promote economic and intensive land use, improve soil quality, facilitate local socioeconomic development, and maintain environmental stability. In this study, we optimized spatial land-use allocations in an LDEZ using the geographic information system (GIS) and a genetic ant colony algorithm (GACA). The multi-objective function considers economic benefits and ecological green equivalents, and improves soil erosion. We developed the GACA by integrating a genetic algorithm (GA) with an ant colony algorithm (ACA). This avoids a large number of redundant iterations and the low efficiency of the GA, and the slow convergence speed of the ACA. The study area is located in Pengyang County, Ningxia, China, which is a typical LDEZ. The land-use data were interpreted from remote sensing (RS) images and GIS. We determined the optimal spatial land-use allocations in the LDEZ using the GACA in the GIS environment. We compared the original and optimal spatial schemes in terms of economic benefits, ecological green equivalents, and soil erosion. The results of the GACA were superior to the original allocation, the ACA, and the multi-objective genetic algorithm, in terms of the optimum, time, and robust performance indexes. We also present some suggestions for the reasonable development and protection of LDEZs. [Termes IGN] relation sémantiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Semantic integration has gained considerable attention in geographic information system (GIS) interoperability with the goal of conquering semantic heterogeneity. Over the past two decades, ontology engineering has been widely used to resolve semantic integration obstacles. However, most of the previous ontology integration approaches mainly focused on the same type of data with formal ontology. A key challenge is to identify the semantics of cross-domain data generated by different domains from their own perspectives. Given that formal ontology is not always available, this paper proposes a novel semi-automatic approach to determine the semantic relationship of cross-domain concepts based on lightweight ontologies. The semantics of each concept is presented by an extendable and structural definition framework composed of a number of resource description framework triple statements formed by common vocabularies extracted from the free-text definition of the concept. We further propose algorithms to compare the structural definition of concepts and to determine the semantic relationship of concepts between different domains. Finally, the semantic relationship of concepts from different domains is formally presented by the bridge ontology to serve future application needs. The bridge ontology of two GIS-based data, topographic map data and land use data, was developed to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach. The preliminary result shows a faithful and highly automatic semantic integration for cross-domain data. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (Auteur) The international standard CityGML defines five levels of detail (LODs) for 3D city models, but only the highest of these (LOD4) supports modelling the indoor geometry of a building, which must be acquired in correspondingly high detail and therefore at a high cost. Whereas simple 3D city models of the exterior of buildings (e.g. CityGML LOD2) can be generated largely automatically, and are thus now widely available and have a great variety of applications, similarly simple models containing their indoor geometries are rare.
In this paper we present two contributions: (i) the definition of a level of detail LOD2+, which extends the CityGML LOD2 specification with indoor building geometries of comparable complexity to their exterior geometries in LOD2; and more importantly (ii) a method for automatically generating such indoor geometries based on existing CityGML LOD2 exterior geometries. We validate our method by generating LOD2+ models for a subset of the Rotterdam 3D data set and visually comparing these models to their real counterparts in building blueprints and imagery from Google Street View and Bing Maps. Furthermore, we use the LOD2+ models to compute the net internal area of each dwelling and validate our results by comparing these values to the ones registered in official government data sets.Numéro de notice : A2015-624 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : GEOMATIQUE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1080/13658816.2015.1072201 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1080/13658816.2015.1072201 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=78093

[Termes IGN] visualisation de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur)In crowdsourced cartographic projects, mappers coordinate their efforts through online tools to produce digital geospatial artefacts, such as maps and gazetteers, which were once the exclusive territory of professional surveyors and cartographers. In order to produce meaningful and coherent data, contributors need to negotiate a shared conceptualisation that defines the domain concepts, such as road, building, train station, forest and lake, enabling the communication of geographic knowledge. Considering the OpenStreetMap Wiki website as a case study, this article investigates the nature of this negotiation, driven by a small group of mappers in a context of high contribution inequality. Despite the apparent consensus on the conceptualisation, the negotiation keeps unfolding in a tension between alternative representations, which are often incommensurable, i.e., hard to integrate and reconcile. In this study, we identify six complementary dimensions of incommensurability that recur in the negotiation: (1) ontology, (2) cartography, (3) culture and language, (4) lexical definitions, (5) granularity, and (6) semantic overload and duplication.
