[Termes IGN] reconstruction d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) Previous work for subpixel level Digital Surface Model (DSM) generation mainly focused on data fusion techniques, which are extremely limited by the difficulty of multisource data acquisition. Although several DSM super resolution (SR) methods have been developed to ease the problem, a new issue that plenty of DSM samples are needed to train the model is raised. Therefore, considering the original images have vital influence on its DSM's accuracy, we address the problem by directly improving images resolution. Several SR models are refined and brought into the traditional DSM generation process as an image quality improvement stage to construct an easy but effective workflow for subpixel level DSM generation. Experiments verified the validity and significance of bringing SR technology into this kind of application. Statistical analysis also confirmed that a subpixel level DSM with higher fidelity can be obtained more easily compared to directly DSM interpolation. The data were processed for 2016–2017 through three main steps: (1) reconstructing MODIS land-surface temperature (LST), (2) Landsat-MODIS data fusion and (3) drought delineation using the temperature vegetation dryness index (TVDI). The results of LST reconstruction using the random forests (RF) indicated the median RMSE value of 0.5 °C. The fusion results achieved from the STARFM compared with the reference Landsat data revealed close agreement with the correlation coefficient (r) values higher than 0.84. The TVDI results verified with that from the reference Landsat data indicated r values of 0.85 and 0.75 for 2016 and 2017, respectively. The larger very dry area was observed for the 2016 primera season due to prolonged droughts. Approximately 11.5% and 10.7% of croplands were, respectively, associated with very dry moisture condition in the 2016 and 2017 primera seasons. Résumé : (auteur) Registration is one of the most important tasks in mobile laser scanning (MLS) point cloud processing. This paper firstly reviews existing target‐free matching techniques as well as methods to evaluate the quality of the registration. Next, a new error metric is introduced that takes into account the residuals of check planes as well as their orientation. Experiments using real datasets in combination with reference data were performed to evaluate the suitability of these metrics. The proposed error metric proved to be more suitable for evaluating the quality of point cloud registration than state‐of‐the‐art equivalents. The results also indicate that least squares plane fitting is the best technique for MLS point cloud registration. [Termes IGN] largeur de bandeRésumé : (auteur) Recently, the Sentinel-2 (S2) satellite constellation was deployed for mapping and monitoring the Earth environment. Images acquired by the sensors mounted on the S2 platforms have three levels of spatial resolution: 10, 20, and 60 m. In many remote sensing applications, the availability of images at the highest spatial resolution (i.e., 10 m for S2) is often desirable. This can be achieved by generating a synthetic high-resolution image through data fusion. To this end, researchers have proposed techniques exploiting the spectral/spatial correlation inherent in multispectral data to sharpen the lower resolution S2 bands to 10 m. In this paper, we propose a novel method that formulates the sharpening process as a solution to an inverse problem. We develop a cyclic descent algorithm called S2Sharp and an associated tuning parameter selection algorithm based on generalized cross validation and Bayesian optimization. The tuning parameter selection method is evaluated on a simulated data set. The effectiveness of S2Sharp is assessed experimentally by comparisons to state-of-the-art methods using both simulated and real data sets. [Termes IGN] TéhéranRésumé : (Auteur) Evapotranspiration is considered to be an important component of allocating water to agricultural sector; therefore, the more accurate this parameter is, the more optimized the water use can be. This study was conducted in order to evaluate the Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 data (A and B), both separately and combined, in potential evapotranspiration (ETp) and single crop coefficient (Kc) estimations. Field measurements such as crop height, leaf area index (LAI), land surface temperature (LST), air temperature above canopy (AT), and spectral data were exploited in the evaluating process throughout the entirety of 2017–18 growing season under winter wheat and barley cultivations in the Agricultural Research Farms of the University of Tehran. The novel method of Multi-Sensor Data Fusion using the Priestly-Taylor equation was taken into practice for satellite-based ETp (MSDF-ET) calculation from the combination of MODIS thermal and Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 multispectral data. Thermal images were downscaled by the means of the TsHARP algorithm. Thus, prior to ETp calculation, the thermal sharpening algorithm calculated using different spectral indices (SI) was assessed. The SI included NDVI, SAVI, SR, NDWI, NDWIg, and LSWI. The subsequent results were representative of the LSWI qualification under both Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 conditions against thermal and spectral measurements. Also the satellite-based ETp strongly correlated with the ETp derived from the field data illuminating the promising accuracy of the MSDF-ET method in both Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 data. In the end, the time series of Kc obtained from the combination of satellites were fairly indicative of the real-world variations under different vegetation cover and crop growth stages. Overall, using Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 products in integration with each other could significantly result in more reliable decisions in agricultural water resources management.
