[Termes IGN] surface terrièreRésumé : (auteur) The article proposes methods for combining Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS) with Digital Hemispherical Photography (DHP) data required by the Urban Forest Biomass (UFB) model to predict the aboveground biomass (AGB) of Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) in urban forests of Lublin (Poland). The article also demonstrates the potential of ALS and DHP data in urban AGB estimation. ALS and Leaf Area Index (LAI) data were calculated using a voxels-vector approach based on the measurements taken at eight permanent sample plots (PSPs). The research was conducted in 2014 and the prediction was made until 2030. It was found that the determination coefficients (R2) for the Basal Area (BA) of the trees are 0.97, and the BA modeling parameters have a high correlation with those observed in the field (model efficiency (ME) 0.94). 83 % growth trajectory based on the measured BA was appropriately modeled using the UFB model (P > 0.9). The results for AGB show that the degree of fitting and accuracy are greatest for the Monte Carlo (MC) simulation technique based on ALS and DHP data (UBF with ALS and DHP) where R2 = 0.98, RMSE = 2.97 t/ha, MAE = 2.35 t/ha, rRMSE = 1.28 %, which performed better than MC simulation technique without ALS and DHP (UBF without ALS and DHP) where R2 = 0.94, RMSE = 4.58 t/ha, MAE = 3.64 t/ha, rRMSE = 3.29 %. The results indicate that the proposed method based on combining the UFB model, LiDAR and DHP allows us to improve the accuracy of the AGB prediction. [Termes IGN] projection perspectiveRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents a novel technique for 3D browsing of wide-angle fisheye images using view-dependent perspective correction (VDPC). First, the fisheye imaging model with interior orientation parameters (IOPs) is established. Thereafter, a VDPC model for wide-angle fisheye images is proposed that adaptively selects correction planes for different areas of the image format. Finally, the wide-angle fisheye image is re-projected to obtain the visual effect of browsing in hemispherical space, using the VDPC model and IOPs of the fisheye camera calibrated using the ideal projection ellipse constraint. The proposed technique is tested on several downloaded internet images with unknown IOPs. Results show that the proposed VDPC model achieves a more uniform perspective correction of fisheye images in different areas, and preserves the detailed information with greater flexibility compared with the traditional perspective projection conversion (PPC) technique. The proposed algorithm generates a corrected image of 512 × 512 pixels resolution at a speed of 58 fps when run on a pure central processing unit (CPU) processor. With an ordinary graphics processing unit (GPU) processor, a corrected image of 1024 × 1024 pixels resolution can be generated at 60 fps. The areas of application of these cameras in the world of intelligent transportation systems are becoming more and more varied: pedestrian detection, line crossing detection, navigation, …A major area of research currently focuses on mapping that is essential for localization and navigation. However, this step generates an important problem of memory management. Indeed, the memory space required to accommodate the map of a small city is measured in tens gigabytes. In addition, several providers today are competing to produce High-Definition (HD) maps. These maps offer a rich and detailed representation of the environment for highly accurate localization. However, they require a large storage capacity and high transmission and update costs. To overcome these problems, we propose a solution to summarize this type of map by reducing the size while maintaining the relevance of the data for navigation based on vision only. The summary consists in a set of spherical images augmented by depth and semantic information and allowing to keep the same level of visibility in every directions. These spheres are used as landmarks to offer guidance information to a distant agent. They then have to guarantee, at a lower cost, a good level of precision and speed during navigation. Some experiments on real data demonstrate the feasibility for obtaining a summarized map while maintaining a localization with interesting performances. A linear radiometric model and a polynomial fish-eye lens model are used. A temperature-dependent dark level model is proposed to improve the dark correction for high dynamic range photography. This paper describes the calibration procedure for spectral and geometrical radiance field measurements and presents the results of the calibration. The spectral radiometric calibration error is 2.07%, 1.34%, and 0.98% for blue, green, and red bands, respectively. The mean geometrical calibration error is 2.037 pixels. [Termes IGN] téléphone intelligentRésumé : (Auteur) Accurate ground measurements of fractional vegetation cover (FVC) are key for characterizing ecosystem functions and evaluating remote sensing products. The increasing performance of cameras equipped in smartphones opens new opportunities for extensive FVC measurement through citizen science initiatives. However, the wide field of view (FOV) of smartphone cameras constitutes a key source of uncertainty in the estimation of vegetation parameters, which has been largely ignored. We designed a practical method to characterize the FOV of smartphones and improve the FVC estimation. The method was assessed in a mountainous forest based on the comparison with in situ fisheye photographs. After the FOV correction, the agreement of smart-phone and fisheye FVC estimates highly improved: root-mean-square error (RMSE) of 0.103 compared to 0.242 of the original smartphone FVC estimates without considering the FOV effect, mean difference of 0.074 versus 0.213, and coefficient of determination R 2 of 0.719 versus 0.353. Smartphone cameras outperform traditional fisheye cameras: the overexposure and low vertical resolution of fisheye photographs introduced uncertainties in FVCestimation while the insensitivity to exposure and high spatial resolution of smartphone cameras make photograph acquisition and analysis more automatic and accurate. The smartphone FVCestimates highly agree with the GF-1 satellite product: RMSE = 0.066, bias = 0.007, and R 2 = 0.745. This study opens new perspectives for the validation of satellite products.
