[Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) The automatic co-registration of point clouds, representing three-dimensional (3D) surfaces, is an important technique in 3D reconstruction and is widely applied in many different disciplines. An alternative approach is proposed here that estimates the transformation parameters of one or more 3D search surfaces with respect to a 3D template surface. The approach uses the nonlinear Gauss–Helmert model, minimizing the quadratically constrained least squares problem. This approach has the ability to match arbitrarily oriented 3D surfaces captured from a number of different sensors, on different time-scales and at different resolutions. In addition to the 3D surface-matching paths, the mathematical model allows the precision of the point clouds to be assessed after adjustment. The error behavior of surfaces can also be investigated based on the proposed approach. Some practical examples are presented and the results are compared with the iterative closest point and the linear least-squares approaches to demonstrate the performance and benefits of the proposed technique. [Termes IGN] séquence d'imagesRésumé : (auteur) The paper shows advanced spatial, temporal and spatio-temporal filtering techniques which may be used to reduce noise effects in photogrammetric image sequence analysis tasks and tools. As a practical example, the techniques are validated in a photogrammetric spatio-temporal crack detection and analysis tool applied in load tests in civil engineering material testing. The load test technique is based on monocular image sequences of a test object under varying load conditions. The first image of a sequence is defined as a reference image under zero load, wherein interest points are determined and connected in a triangular irregular network structure. For each epoch, these triangles are compared to the reference image triangles to search for deformations. The result of the feature point tracking and triangle comparison process is a spatio-temporally resolved strain value field, wherein cracks can be detected, located and measured via local discrepancies. The strains can be visualized as a color-coded map. In order to improve the measuring system and to reduce noise, the strain values of each triangle must be treated in a filtering process. The paper shows the results of various filter techniques in the spatial and in the temporal domain as well as spatio-temporal filtering techniques applied to these data. The best results were obtained by a bilateral filter in the spatial domain and by a spatio-temporal EOF (empirical orthogonal function) filtering technique. Although physiological adaptations to stress by plants have been explored, the effect of stress on the spectral properties in the thermal part of the electromagnetic spectrum (3–16 μm) has not yet been investigated.
In this research two plant species (European beech, Fagus sylvatica and rhododendron, Rhododendron cf. catawbiense) that both grow naturally under temperature limited conditions were selected, representing deciduous and evergreen plants respectively. Besides TIR spectra, Leaf Water Content (LWC) and cuticle thickness were measured as possible variables that can explain the changes in TIR spectra.
The results demonstrated that both species, when exposed to either water or temperature stress, showed significant changes in their TIR spectra. The changes in TIR in response to stress were similar within a species, regardless of the stress imposed on them. However, changes in TIR spectra differed between species. For rhododendron emissivity in TIR increased under stress while for beech it decreased. Both species showed depletion of Leaf Water Content (LWC) under stress, ruling LWC out as a main cause for the change in the TIR spectra. Cuticle thickness remained constant for beech, but increased for rhododendron. This suggests that changes in emissivity may be linked to changes in the cuticle thickness and possibly the structure of cuticle. It is known that spectral changes in this region have a close connection with microstructure and biochemistry of leaves. We propose detailed measurements of these changes in the cuticle to analyze the effect of microstructure on TIR spectra.

[Termes IGN] modèle numérique de terrainRésumé : (auteur) Repeat-pass Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) is a technique that can be used to generate DEMs. But the accuracy of InSAR is greatly limited by geometrical distortions, atmospheric effect, and decorrelations, particularly in mountainous areas, such as western China where no high quality DEM has so far been accomplished. Since each of InSAR DEMs generated using data of different frequencies and baselines has their own advantages and disadvantages, it is therefore very potential to overcome some of the limitations of InSAR by fusing Multi-baseline and Multi-frequency Interferometric Results (MMIRs). This paper proposed a fusion method based on Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), which takes the InSAR-derived DEMs as states in prediction step and the flattened interferograms as observations in control step to generate the final fused DEM. Before the fusion, detection of layover and shadow regions, low-coherence regions and regions with large height error is carried out because MMIRs in these regions are believed to be unreliable and thereafter are excluded. The whole processing flow is tested with TerraSAR-X and Envisat ASAR datasets. Finally, the fused DEM is validated with ASTER GDEM and national standard DEM of China. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective even in low coherence areas. [Termes IGN] tomographieRésumé : (auteur) The measurement and monitoring of critical infrastructure elements by remote sensing has become necessary for economical and security reasons. Information provided by remote sensing for infrastructure monitoring is extracted with specific signal processing chains that have to be adapted to the geometric particularities of the structure. In this paper we present in detail the first monitoring results obtained by combining spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data with externally measured point clouds describing an infrastructure element. The processing core is essentially based on refocusing each available SAR image on the provided point cloud and identifying the scatterers that can be monitored by means of four dimensional tomography. The key points and limitations which appear in the measurement and data processing are illustrated on two test sites in France: the Puylaurent water-dam and the Chastel landslide. The SAR products used are high-resolution sliding spotlight SAR images acquired in the TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X missions, whereas the point clouds of the structures were generated using GPS localization, topographic measurements and laser scans. The estimated deformations of the scatterers using the SAR images were in good agreement with available in-situ data provided through regular topographic surveys and embedded measuring systems.
